So my 2007 tacoma 4.0l has a loud slapping noise coming from timing chain. Took it all apart only to find one of the lifters was beat to shit and was broken so after replacing the whole timing chain, all lifters etc. noise is still there. Now considering it might be the oil port itself to that exact lifter clogged, going to try blow air through to clean it out. Was wondering if you guys had any similar problems and what your solutions were.

Maybe this will help. My 96 Nissan pu developed a loud timing chain slapping noise. I learned it’s tensioner uses oil pressure to push out and put tension on the chain. I found someone who sells a kit to replace it with one that has a tiny spring inside. The kit came with detailed instructions, a few different sized little sleeves, and wooden wedges attached to string to cram against the pulleys to keep the chain on. The end result was no more wacking noise and a way better running engine. I thought there would be just a little slop but the chain was unbelievably loose. Different animal I know, but there it is.
