Recently I've started sleeping in the passenger seat of my truck on overnight hunting trips. Laying the seat all the way back allows me to sleep nearly flat. I've done this on three separate nights and slept great each night.
I was considering a topper or some way to sleep in the bed, but this is by far more convenient. Anyone else slept like this?

Nope, I haven't needed anything. I've been extremely happy with the results.

I slept in the drivers seat this past weekend.

Went wheeling and it was -4C overnight and raining so didn't want to pitch tent. Can't recline passenger seat because fridge is behind it.

Not the most comfortable but oh well

For my situation, I don't really see the advantage of pitching a tent.

Thats why you get a bivouac. It's basically a 1 person waterproof sac you put your sleeping bag in and sleep in, usually has an opening on one end that you can seal shut while sleeping

it would be more comfortable but really depends where you are.

out camp site was muddy and wet and their was rain in the forecast.
I didn't feel like either getting wet, being cold or needing to pack up muddy gear later, possibly in the rain if it rained in the morning.

Honestly when its not too cold I'd much rather be in a hammock

i use a RTT on a roof rack for hunting trips. Before that I made a pallet with the rear seat folded down. problem was warm weather (it got hot inside) and the mosquitos. I could sleep in the bed under the shell but, the dog kennel goes back there.

Get a surplus army modular sleeping bag with the goretex cover and sleep in the bed. Or you can get an air mattress and a camper shell.

I slept in my 06 AC a half dozen times.

On early 2nd gens the rear seat bottoms flipped forward which made a flat floor with no gaps. I'd slide the pass. front seat forward and sleep diagonally, on my side with my head behind the drivers seat. At 6ft tall, not great but it was fine in a pinch.

I was thinking about taking out my passenger seat and getting a small air mattress,

    Any thoughts?

I've wanted to try out the passenger seat idea on long trips, since I don't see well enough to drive at night anymore. Rest areas are out, every state has different regs. Motels are iffy, expensive, noisy, and if you don't make a pre-paid reservation, may not have a room when you arrive... just adds stress to the trip IMO. May try Walmart out lot, there's usually one around, GPS could find closest, sleep a couple hours, see what happens. I even have a nifty little CO detector I could plug in, if I need heat. V-6 Idling burns .4 gal./hr., so 5-6 hrs. sleep, around 2 gal. gas.
