If anyone has interest in what I've built, I'm happy to post all of my drawings and cuts to make this. The idea was to have a entirely new floor since I got my shell.

Many of you will disagree with my use of 2x10's because of all the wasted space. I'm aware I could have gone with smaller thickness wood, but I consciously chose this size.

The system has two "lift off" compartments, one tool drawer, and one gun drawer. The gun drawer is 54" long to accommodate my shooting gear, along with ammo stacked on the side. The dividers will be added this coming week.

The side panels of the drawers are just to complete the floor. There are 2 pieces on each side and they lift off where I store other random items.

I've installed LED strips along the windows of my topper and they're wired to TWO switches. One push button and another tilt switch. This allows the lights to come on when the window opens and also when I want to switch them on (when camping). I also have a kill switch wired in case i leave the window open for long periods of time.

I used speaker box carpet at 3M 90 strength spray adhesive to carpet the boxes and floor...seems to work well.

I used some sweet rope from work for the handles.

I'm REALLY happy with the build. It's not perfect, but it does exactly the job I need it to do. It cost less than $200 all said and done, and that includes using the nice plywood at $44/sheet (needed 2 sheets).

    Here are some pictures.

Nice job! I plan on making a sleeping platform/storage space for my bed one of these days.

Looks great! And you could hide a body or two in those drawers!

Nice build. Looking at adding similar to my rig.

sorry if I missed the details but:
    • Front 2x10's hold each side extension, assume they rest on wheel wells, what holds them up at the very back? OEM 2x6 molded notches?
    • Did you carpet the bottom of the drawers, so they slide easy?
    • If you didn't use 2x material, what would you have used? 3/4" stock?
    • Is top fastened to the base or ?
    • Did you design this to be removed (once or twice a year) or keep permenantly?
    • Both front "bins" have pull up lids? Good for "only if I need it storage"...I like.
    • Your drawers are as long as can be? Does the long one pull out and stay supported by the rear tailgate?
    • What kind of beer is in that cozy cover, last pic, near the 120 outlet...
    Thanks!

nice one. I made a bench for my access cab to transport my music equip. so it wouldn't bang up everything in the cab.
