Looking into possibly getting a HC rear swingout but was just thinking about the sleeping platform in the bed under a camper shell and was seeing if anyone had any experience on how they would prevent the swingout from locking them inside the shell.

I don't think it would be possible to close the swing out. If you have a tire back there, it'll prevent you from closing the canopy back window. I suppose you could figure something out with some string, but then yeah you'd be trapped in there.

Why not just leave it open? Trying to do some incognito camping in the Walmart parking lot?

    Never thought about that.
I do have windoors on mine.
Guess you could put a lock in the holes where pins drop in to lock the swing arms into an open position.

Here's a pic I found with the holes to put lock in or something.

My swingout and tailgate stay open (unless it's raining...then I'll close the tailgate).
