Sounds like at least seven or eight for Jambalaya. Going to the grocery store now. I'll make a big pot; that should be enough in case a couple other folks want in, but if there's suddenly a big extra group, we may not have enough.

I'll put out a coffee can for donations and folks can throw in a fiver if they want; if not just pay it forward to someone else some other time, no big deal.

I'm JUST making jambalya, though. So bring any other sides or snacks you want to eat or share.

    Cool.

Also - bring your own mess kit - plate/spoon. I'm not bringing any disposables.

Which reminds me of a story. Earlier in the summer Gabriel and I were on a campout where the host was providing dinner after a day long backpacking trip. They specifically said NOT to bring mess kits as they'd provide paper plates etc... Guess what they forgot to pack?

Since I almost inevitably pack a sierra cup and a spoon in my backpack, I avoided eating off of torn up cardboard.

Anyhow - bring something to eat with. For jambalaya, a bowl tends to work better than a plate.

    Alright, upgrade me to IN.

Been waiting all week to say that, g damn knuckle rebuild took way longer than I anticipated but things seem to be working great after the test drive. Unless something goes drastically wrong in the next 2 days, I'll be there.

I get off at 5 on Friday - leaving straight after work from Sac and I'll meet everyone at the camp site.

You guys camping at the usual spot on Friday night? About a 1/2 mile in or so by the creek?

Anyone bringing canoes or kayaks? Debating on mine since I'm staying Saturday night as well.

Nice! Glad you can make it. I have never been to the trail but we camp before the first big obstacle the off camber wall. Does the creek have enough water to canoe or kayak? Per bjmoose drive down the trail til you see a big group of tacomas :D

OK cool, that sounds like the same spot.

And no, the creek doesn't but I was thinking about exploring the Utica reservoir or lake Alpine. Idk, I'll think about it.

The creek that runs past the usual camping spot's too small for paddle sports. The place to kayak would be either Alpine Lake or Utica reservoir.

Probably all the camping spots near those lakes tend to fill up, and also they're pretty accessible so people bring campers and RV trailers with all that entails. It's not like Gold Lake where there's a 4x4 campground right on the lake.

But, those lakes aren't all that far from our likely campsites... it might work out that we could set up camp and you could drive to the water and paddle for a while.

That reminds me - folks should remember to bring mosquito repellant. The mosquitos haven't gotten the memo that we're in a drought. #bloodsuckers

Hey Bret, when you get a chance today can you go thru the thread and update the post with confirmed attendees, any passengers they said they're bringing, and strike those who said they're out? I just want to be able to double check in one place that I'm bringing enough food.

Yeah for sure. I'll do it in more detail later. Roughly 7 people convoying Friday, 2 showing up Friday night, and 2 coming Saturday morning. I believe those 11 are all camping saturday night. I'll do an in depth update when I get the chance today.

Good question. I wouldn't mind leaving my tent and air mattress ready to go at camp...
