Just curious as to which sliders people prefer. I'm looking for some that are low profile but still get the job done. If you've got pics, post em. Thanks guys (and I'm sure some gals too. )

    Welcome in Klingaa.

Demello Rock Crushers on my 1st Gen. Excellent sliders and also serve as a good step for the kids. As well as car doors and shopping cart dings at Lowes. Bastages.

I ordered mine from SOS Off Road Concepts, but only recently, so I don't have them on the truck yet.

    Why not just nerf bars?

There are a number of great vendors / manufacturers on here that people will be partial to. My advice would be try to find one of the vendors that gets a good review that is somewhat local because it's about $100 to just ship them. Also wait for a group buy or a sale around holidays for 15-20% off. SOS OFF-ROAD, RCI, CBI, mobtown, etc... I'm a fan of one with a kickout if you are short or have a lifted truck. My wife appreciates being able to step up easier.

Also you can paint them yourself pretty easily and save some money.

    Good luck and welcome.

Protection from rocks and other people's doors mostly. Future protection from bigger rocks once I get around to 4wd conversion.

That's why I asked, hope I wasnt rude. I just never really understand why people armor up/lift/tires etc on a 2wd. Hopefully it's a SAS conversion too!

Not to totally derail this thread, but what's the cost roughly of a 4wd conversion vs just selling and buying a 4x4?

I got inspired for the conversion after seeing another TWer's PreRunner conversion @ahspurlock

But the 2wd PreRunner does surprisingly well stock off road.

I went with SOS Off-road Concepts and am pretty happy. These are bolt-ons with kickouts on my DCSB. Solid product!

Plenty of vendors here that offer them as a weld on or bolt on. I suggest finding a vendor that is somewhat local to you due to cost of shipping. Welcome to the site.
