Rattle can them. You're going to have to touch them up throughout the year anyway.

What would you suggest using? Bed-liner or just normal spray paint?

Not to be disagreeing, but very few of them are "custom" meaning one of a kind, they are just low volume/low production...that's what extends the lead time.

I used self etching primer and then flat black rustoleum when I originally did mine. Now twice a year I hit them with a wire brush to get the rust and build up off and then hit them with a couple more coats of rustoleum. I don't think bedliner is a bad way to go, I just don't like the look of it personally.
Sure there are those too. I was thinking of a shop like Relentless, which I am familiar with, that does a bunch of one-off builds. But fair point.

We just got a set of the APex sliders from All-Pro for our Tundra after also running them on our Tacoma. They are more cost effective to ship unpainted. We had them powder coated locally for $180/set, so you might want to look into that option but I know there aren't powder coaters in every town. The APex sliders are one of the best values IMO since they are DOM and include the top plates, AND have a fairly quick lead time. I saw they are offering free shipping this week as well.

Very pleased with how mine came out. wire wheel, acetone wipe, self etching primer, couple coats of rustolem bedliner, and a couple coats of RO semi gloss black. Easy touch ups with the semi gloss as needed.

So I'm in the market for sliders with bolt on steps. What companies do you recommend? I've seen sos so far and nfab but haven't heard much reviews about nfab sliders. Thanks fellas

Sliders or step bars? Step bars aren't very tough, if that is what you are looking for.

Just got the Trail Gears, was ready to get them welded on - now I see a lot of warnings about how welding will weaken the frame... I've seen conflicting opinions on other threads; what say you all?

Weld them up. You should be more concerned with your frame rusting away than adding some more metal to it.

Yeah I don't see how welding them on will weaken the frame

Had a local TW member make these bolt on plated sliders. Rattle can semi-gloss.
