I am about to purchase some Mobtown sliders, but I was thinking about how they might affect insuring my truck. If someone was to t-bone my truck and the frame got bent, could the insurance company blame the sliders for the frame damage because without them the frame might not have been hit?? I'm probably over thinking this, but I want to make sure that there are no outs for the insurance company if something happens... I appreciate any input

I have never heard of this happening.

I suppose anything is possible, but I have seen a lot of built up trucks on TW and elsewhere take a schwacking and nothing came of it.

Fair enough. Just don't trust insurance companies. I want to make sure I don't get the shaft without any lube if ya catch my drift :D

I’m thinking if you get t-boned that hard, you might be totaled.

Generally, for after market the insurance will cover the value of the after market equipment up to the limit of your policy. They will also restore the truck to the limits of your policy. Now, if you are welding on the truck, and the gas tank bursts in flames and you burn the house down because this is all being done in the garage, they may get difficult. However, while welding and the truck blew up while you were under the truck and you survived a crispy critter, the insurance company may pay off to avoid the posts on social media.

It depends where you were when you got hit; are you using the sliders at a private mall, on a public street or off-road?

My concern would be with a standard traffic accident. Not off road related

Well, yeah. But a lot of people don’t realize that many insurers wont cover you driving on private property or off-road at all.

I'd also ask why you asked this question? Did you have a difficult time getting a reimbursement from an insurance company? If this is the case, I'd recommend switching providers.
I've had AAA for a long time and they've always been reasonable. Also, my truck got hit while parked about two years ago by a guy with State Farm and they were easy to work with.

No issues with my insurance. Just being overly cautious, haha

If anything I'd be worried about your warranty (if you have one), not insurance. Only thing to worry about with mods and insurance is whether or not you've got the right amount of coverage for your mods in case you do get into a wreck, or your truck gets stolen.

Overly cautious is a good reason for sliders :)

Which is why my sliders are bolt on not weld on. If I even worry about frame rust, etc, you can bet I am taking them off before I take it in.

EDIT: Sliders payed off last night, Dude was being an idiot and rammed his honda door right into my slider. Not even a scuff on them, but the hionda guy had trouble closing his door

I think if you get t-boned that hard, I'd be more worried about walking away from the crash...

yeah I had thought of that when doing mine, but rust isn't something we hardly ever see here on the west coast so I opted to weld them. I'm less than a year away from being outside of the frame warranty limitations anyway.
