I've been showing my truck some love lately and just did some cosmetic stuff that I think makes it look even better. I did a little chrome deleting and found an oem color matched sport grill on eBay and put some matte black bumpershellz on the rear. I'm happy with how it turned out. I've recently been spending more time up in the woods and invested in some good recovery gear (ARB snatch strap, recovery d-link hitch, air compressor, etc). I'm now debating on doing a 2 inch lift or some sliders. I'm really debating on if I even need the lift or if it's more of a want thing. I would like a little more articulation while off-roading but after watching some stock tacoma videos of people at Moab, I really don't think it's necessary and maybe I would be better off spending half the money on a set of bolt on sliders. I really like the minimal look of the Cali Raised bolt-ons. Aside from the protection it would offer, especially with the non-lifted ride height, the kickout would be nice for getting stuff out of the back and washing the roof, etc. Would just sliders look out of place on a non-lifted truck? I currently am running 265/75/r16's and I don't see myself ever going with bigger tires (maybe some pizza cutters, maybe). I'm also running 3rd gen suspension so I guess I TECHNICALLY have a 1 inch lift. Feedback would be much appreciated.

Sliders were the first big thing I did for my truck. I did this because I knew I wanted to take it offroad and wanted more confidence and protection. So yeah, I'd do sliders first. It'll look great with your truck.

Also check out metaltech. They are local to you in Oregon and really know Toyota 4x4s and can get you sorted with armor.

Agree with ^^^^ slider first. Then lift. Here’s the cali raised weld on with 265/75/16s with ~2” —- if you’re going off-road I’d say sliders and maybe skids and go up from there ...

I'll third, sliders first! Especially if you're offroading your truck.

Your truck looks great! Do you have any side shots? I’m leaning towards sliders now and then maybe down the road I’ll do ome coils, 5100’s, and medium Dakars.

Most of what we do is logging roads and random play areas we find since that’s what is close to me near Eugene. I’d like to do more tho!

Definitely protect your truck first! Then you can go out with the peace of mind knowing you're protected and the "do more" will come!

TRD Pro suspension with Headstrong 3 Leaf AAL, DV8 OR front slimline bumper & Engine Skid Plate, RCI OR high clearance bumper, CaliRaised Trail Edition Sliders, Spidertrax 1.25" Wheel Spacers, 265/75 16 GY Duratracs, wrapped the OEM wheels, OR Roof Rack, Extang Exceed Hard top Tri fold tonneau.
Sliders first, I do not have a lift, but have 25 degree bolt on sliders with a kick out. They are really not noticeable, and do their job off road. I also have an engine and transmission skid.

I ordered bolt-on CBI sliders with top plate and kick out. I’ve got a double cab long bed, so the longer wheel base could use that protection. It also will help people get in and out, and I can get stuff off the roof rack.

Eventually I’ll get a lift, but not a priority right now.

I think your order is right, although if you're using your sliders you underbelly is also at risk so you may want to add armor to the list. Here's a side view. They'll look great ... and honestly, I doubt anyone other than you and other TW members will even notice the sliders lol.

You'll get varying opinions on this, but I chose weld-on for the strength / weight savings. I'd ask how much weight the bolt-ons add and I'm guessing it's 50+ lbs. That's fine, but if you ge a steel skid and/or more coverage you'll be in the 70-170lb range and it all adds up. I can't think of a reason why I'd take them off and I had a local welder burn them on for about $120. I rattle canned with the rustoleum self-etching primer followed by the truck bed coating all around (sliders and armor) and couldn't be happier.
