I did POR15 on my sliders and then painted black semi gloss over it. Holding up well.

How much material did it take to cover both?

A gallon seems like too much but a quart feels like it would not be enough.

quart is plenty for POR 15 - it goes a long way. At least it did for me, and I slathered it on LOL.

When I received my sliders (bare), I did the following:
    - clean with Simple Green
    - Brush on rust converter/primer (it had some very minor surface rusting, so I applied Corroseal to address the rust and primer it)
    - Spray black paint. I used some high performance enamel and bought a small touch up can for scratches.
    - Applied grip tape all along the top of the slider. I step on it daily and it keeps the paint from scratching away.

I've had my sliders for a year now and have only needed to touch up paint on the underside.

I have powdercoat on my sliders and I touch up the gouges with.......Rustoleum flat black rattle can. Paint for the win.
