Looking at sliders. They're usually offered bare, powder coated or coated with bed liner material - Line X or Rhino. While I have enjoyed the durability of my Line X bed liners in the past, I worry that dragging a bed liner coated slider over rocks may cause it to peel.

    What you guys going with?
    Thanks

Powdercoat. People will comment telling you to go bare if "you plan on actually using them" but the powdercoat (if done well) provides a great basecoat that can be touched up with spraypaint as needed.

This is coming from someone with spray-painted armor who beats on it.

Any situation that will cause bedliner to peel will cause the same peeling or chipping with powdercoat.

Any finish WILL get damaged if you offroad your truck. My skidplates have seen some shit. They're bent and gouged and have been touched up many times. It's just part of wheeling the truck.

I went bare and painted with bedliner - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0070S7U4Y - this stuff is great because you roll it on with a roller and touch up with a foam brush. Just throw the brush away when you're done so there's no cleanup needed. There's no need to be concerned about overspray from spraypaint either.

You can also touch up powdercoat or bedliner with the paint I linked above. As long as it's a fairly flat black, you won't be able to tell after a few weeks.

Do yourself a favor and get the powder coat

Then touch up as needed. Much easier.

I got a good deal local on a skid already coated

Then I ordered sliders for a stupid good deal and did it myself. Acetone, 2 or 3 coats of self etching primer, 2 coats of bed liner and a top coat. If I did it again I'd get it powder coated. Though touch up now took me 20 minutes to do my skid and sliders while changing oil and front diff so thats nice

I wish mine were a good deal, my all-pro bolt ons we’re iirc $650 bare metal.

Mine started out as a brush-on paint project but I didn’t get them clean enough and only found out when my final coat scratched easily.
Setting up and leaning them would take more than 20 mins, for $150 they’re at least solidly coated and can be touched up as needed.

I use herculiner(comes in spray cans). Its tough as hell. Used it on my jeeps bumpers, sliders, and fenders. It held up great over the 2yrs i had my jeep. Just remember to prep, then primer, prep again, then 2-3 coats of bedliner(prep justs mean scotbrite then wipe down)

Here are our 0 degrees we offer both bed liner and powder coat. From mine and customer experience powder coat will hold up great over time while the bed liner will fade just a tad. I have had my bed liner top plates for 3 years now, but they are in great shape.
