Ok guys, I have all the tools to make some sliders and I know what design I want to use. does anyone have a preference for welding on sliders or bolting them on. And also why. Thanks in advance for all the help.

If it's diy and you have a welder, stick em up there! I feel like solid bolt on sliders require more than a couple bolts through the frame.

If you aren't worried about warranty issues, weld away. Bolt ons will have crevices for water/dirt that will help corrosion. Welded should be stronger as well.

I have bolt ons, but would like to eventually swap to welded ones.

Well I live in sunny San Diego so not so much corrosion is not that big of a deal. I think sliders will be the least of my problems for warranty. I have a Miller maxstar 200 but I want to upgrade to a dynasty. That way I can weld some aluminum upgrades

Love my bolt-on BAMF (Bay Area Metal Fabrication) sliders. Strong as hell, nice quality as well. I got the kick out and put hexagonal pieces of marine grip tape down the spacing between cross bars, which works pretty darn well.

The powder coat is next level, SUPER thick and I have yet to see bare metal. Patented design, Zero drilling and the grade 8 hardware it comes with is nice.

I have bolt on Rocky Road Outfitters super sliders. It was a pain in the ass to drill. If I had it to do over I would do weld on sliders 20181016_121732.jpg 20181021_161111.jpg 20181021_161111.jpg

Those don't look like they're meant to go offroad and support the weight of a rig.

They bolt to the frame with 4 bolts and also bolt to the pinch weld with 4 bolts. I won't be off roading too seriously.

Those look like (are definitely steps & not sliders) steps not sliders.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
I have weld on from BAMF. From what I have heard is that they actually strengthen the frame because the arms act like gussets in a sense.

Curious to see pics of them mounted..never seen or heard of sliders or steps attaching to the pinch weld. Never knew you could to that even.

Simple solution: don't sell it. :notsure:

    I will never sell mine.

Sorry. I didn't take any pics from under. If you look at the sliders the 1x1 to the inside bolts to the pinch weld while the 2x2 is made of hitch steel for the slider

im leaning more towards welding. I don't plan on selling the truck so there is that point.

I opted for weld-on for many of the reasons already stated.
