Sliders substituting for winter weight??

    Stock as Stock can be with duratracs and a roof rack
    I think my 3rd gen 4runner sliders both weighed a total of 80lbs which definitely adds weight but not enough to be considered for traction aid. Its probably best to assume they're not there unless you have rear armor as well. Ditto on the added weight increasing braking distance but then again most of the weight is marginal and if you're in a sticky situation you probably couldn't attribute it to the marginal weight gain. Although if someone is packing a pallet of metal then its not marginal anymore.

    Not quite that simple. You need to take into account the added friction caused by the increased mass.
