The kick out will help protect your rear bedsides; if you're stuck sliding on something it will push you off/away from it before it catches your rear flare (at least gives you some chance).

These sliders have saved my ass more than a few times, they also prevent door dings if its a car parked next to you. I will put a set on every truck I own from now on. Paid $600 for a custom set built by a TW member.

As everybody said get the sliders, then save for a front skid plate. The one that comes on the Toyota OR is crap. I have MobTown’s skids and sliders. I think they are the best.

They are all going to weight about the same and any difference will not be noticeable. Probably the biggest factors would be kick out option and filler plate which I have both.

I went with sliders without kick-outs my Tacoma. They serve a purpose but don't feel like they are necessary. I don't care for the look either and regular sliders make your truck 87.3% better rather than the full 100%. You're still many times better than steps either way.

    Who f-ing cares?

An ARB bumper can be over 100lbs and an RTT is 100-250lbs.

As long as it protects the rock rail AND I can use it to step on to get in AND messes up Prius doors, I'm good...

I hear a Prius is lightweight.

Look, it's a truck. If you're worried about saving weight or MPGs, you bought the wrong vehicle. Sorry.

There's only one set of rocker guards that's been posted in this thread that MIGHT have prevented this. Boggles my mind why so many of them are designed tight to the rocker panel with a kick-out; that's completely useless.

If you or someone you know has a welder, you could always cut the legs off and make new ones at any length you desire. That's what I did.

When I ordered mine, I didn't realize the company's "bolt-on" sliders meant bolt to the cab not frame. Drove to my buddy's place, cut the mounts off, tacked the new legs he fabbed ahead of time to the sliders, test fit and burned them on and then to the frame. Couple hours and a few monies and I was set.
