Nice looking truck. Some people don’t mind dents and scratches to their trucks when it’s built for crawling only using an older gen. Even with a full cage if you catch the side of a rock in the wrong angle it would still scratch the side and or grab onto the cage.

You know what industry makes the most money? Safety and security, what people will pay for to have the thought of being more safe or secure.

Get sliders just in case. I only sat the truck on the skidplates on this trip, but it's nice to be safe.20180716_091726.jpg 20180717_104741.jpg

Avid Sliders installed yesterday, love em, actually very sleek and seem low profile, I haven't seen many others in person to compare to tho.

I plan to get sliders, although I don't do any rock crawling with my prerunner. I mostly go on moderate fire roads and some desert trails where I've seen hidden rocks and logs. Luckily I've been free of damage but you never know. Also need a step for the kids and to get to the rack so it's a no brainier to go with real sliders

No, you're not the only one to get sliders hung up.

However, unless that rock was exactly the right height (i.e. higher than sliders, but lower than your doors), I don't really see any advantage to not having the sliders, unless you like having doors that can't open.

    Here's my sliders. 4xInnovations.

I really like how they turned out. I cut an inch off the width (each side) for a lower profile. I'm glad I did, even the way it sits now, I'm constantly hitting my shins on them as I get it and about trip on them as I get out, lol. It's still wide enough that they stick out slightly farther than the body, but not much.

I've fallen in love with the Cali Raised Step Rock Slider and I'll be picking up a set in the future. I was on the fence about when to get them, but others confirmed earlier in the thread that it should be one of the first few things to get added on.

Here is my rock sliders/ step. Maybe not for the true off roader, I’m not sure. I wanted something that looks good on my truck and really dislike most of the steps that are out there so I thought this was a good option. And they are Canadian made and in my home town was a bonus. Green Lane accessories. They make other Tacoma products www.greenlaneoffroad.com

SDHQ makes their sliders from chrome moly steel and they are the only ones on the market that do as far as I've found. same stuff they make tube chassis from. and you'll pay the money for that stuff, too. anyway, they are right at 50lbs per side plus 4.5lbs per side for the hardware. mobtown put out feelers for aluminum ones and there wasn't enough interest. but these are about the same weight, maybe 4lbs more. 5deg and beautifully welded. these are bolt ons.IMG_20181106_144452.jpg

As a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s two more plus some words why you should get sliders:
