Your truck is brand new , don't do weld on. There is a Tacoma world member on here that had a 2016 Tacoma, threw welded sliders on, then wound up trading his truck in year later. Given the price I saw his truck listed for on AutoTRADER I know he lost big time on trade in value due to the frame modification. Not gonna list the guys name.

Truck mods for that guy: OME lift/ rays wheels - 255/85/16 MTs / sso bumper / winch/ rci skid / arb onboard air plus more I'm sure. Truck was listed $1000 less than msrp for a 2017.

Had he not messed up the frame I'm sure his trade in would have been Much higher. But hey, it's your truck.

So you are assuming I listed all the mods that guy did and got them for free? Pull out your calculator and add up everything I listed. Then you'll actually understand how much he lost.

You must be right, cause you're writing it on the internet.

Now please tell me why every dealership is doing customs builds on new trucks on their lots. Toyota / Chevy / Dodge / Ford.

Last time I checked dealers love paying you lowest dollar for your trade in and selling it for Top dollar to the next guy.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Why get sliders at all if you're planning to trade in, and then be salty about only losing $1000. Mods are loss, unless you keep them for the next vehicle and sliders are cheap enough you can throw away a set with each vehicle.

I've sold a few highly modified vehicles. And I know a lot of people who have done the same. Unless you find a specific buyer (good luck) adding mods adds zero value. Like others have said, it can even bring you less money in the end. Unfortunately.

Question is - why trade it in?

Any car you trade in to a dealer is at a loss.
