He replaced the whole window with a after market. Worst thing I ever did. Try and find a small glass shop, they can likely do it. Otherwise spring for the Toyota window and save yourself the pain of trying to save money. You will regret it.

I just did a temporary replacement for my passenger side slider with a piece of plexi-glass and used outdoor clear silicone to seal it.

Biscay89's write-up emboldened me to try replacing my 2004 Tacoma fixed rear window with a sliding window I bought from a junkyard for US$100. Removing the original window was not very hard, but my installation experience was more difficult because I followed the factory manual which says to use soapy water to lubricate (rather than WD-40 in the write-up). I managed to get the rubber lip completely around the sheet metal lip, but the window was still not seated properly and the gasket was deformed and didn't look right. My problem was the soapy water was not slippery enough, or had dried too much, and the rubber had too much friction against the truck's sheet metal to allow the window to move enough to seat. My second attempt went better. I removed the window and sprayed the rubber seal with generous amounts of ArmorAll. The window seated into place as I pulled the last 3 inches or so of rubber over the metal body lip. Lesson learned: don't be shy about using plenty of WD-40 or ArmorAll, you want that gasket and metal body lip to be very slippery.

Dog friendly, with dog snot on inside windows, with of course a/c! Mag 16 inch wheels from a Mazda.
This information is great but seems to be all about 1st gen Tacomas. I'm in needing to remove my rear window on an 2 gen, 05 Tacoma. When I removed the inside bottom molding their was two nuts w/threads holding the frame in place to the inside cab. Checking online I found out the molding and frame are all one piece. As far as using any type of oil on rubber, this is not good. Soap or a Spray Silicone would be a much better choice.

Looking to replace my slider for a solid window because I have a canopy and I have a double slider, the canopy is a single slider so it's a little hard to see out the back, will eventually replace my canopy window with a solid as well.
