Brand new 2021 off-road noticed a slight click/noise when I make first turn from park then goes away. Almost sounds like the noise when traction control engages but so slight it’s like a piece of paper is just catching on the steering wheel like a ripped off tag that’s stuck in there. Kinda hard to explain but wondering if this is normal. Thanks

Doesn't sound all that normal. 4WD isn't on is it?

Nope I spent a lot of time learning how to use 4wd since this is my first. I keep it off almost all the time except when we got 27” of snow here recently but this started before the snow . Iam highly frustrated at something g so possibly minor. I had a little issue with my Nissan when it was new going over bumps and found out that was normal and Kinda delt with it

I wonder if it's the steering wheel lock.

I will get it to the dealer soon hopefully they can recreate the problem or hear it (they should cuz I hear it every time the first turn only)..it’s so minor it could be Normal idk but like first reply doesn’t sound normal. It’s exhausting I have to deal with this working 6 days per week (63 hours) and my only day off they are closed

It only clicks on the first turn when parked for a period of time. every other turn on my drive it does not click. It’s kinda hard to explain the sound whether is a click or what but it’s only on the first turn. Most of the time it’s a left turn I haven’t noticed if it’s right also cuz from work I always turn left. It’s such a slight noise it almost seems normal. But am concerned cuz it should be flawless for such an expensive vehicle

Are you in a colder region where ice breaking apart is possible?

Is it inside the cab or outside?

I know the sound you're referring to OP, it's normal. Mine has done it since new and my 4Runner did the same before that, don't worry about it.

Sounds like it could be brake pad/pads sticks to rotor and breaks loose, aka pad shift.

Sounds like inside cab. almost like something rubbing slightly between steering wheel and what it mounts to

It is not fun to get in there, but if you look where your steering shaft goes through the cab floor above your brake pedal, there is a plastic collar over it. With some pain and contortions, you can remove the plastic nuts and wiggle it out. There might be something behind it making the noise?

Mine does this. It's not a problem. I'm curious what it is but haven't cared to look into it. I feel like it might be steering wheel lock related. This has been posted before with no resolution I believe.

No, it's never caused a problem. I think it's steering wheel lock or something, and totally normal.

I noticed the same on my 21. The dealer told me its likely the steering wheel lock fully disengaging.

It's the ABS self check. Makes a "clunk" sound on the passenger front side. It happens when you put the vehicle from park into drive and go about 3-5 mph or so.

Ever figure out what this is? My SR5 never did it but my new 21 does it every time I pull out of the driveway
