Have had my truck for 1200 miles and a couple of weeks. But since yesterday, actually last night, noticed a slight surge while idling which was enough to make the truck go either forwards or backwards while transmission was in either D or R with brake pedal engaged. My wife put it in the garage and said it did the same with her plus noticed the warning light come on for a second when it did it to her.. Anyone else noticing this?

Did you have the A/C on? When the compressor comes on it can make the RPMs go up and cause you to move if you're not firm on the brake.

I hope it is nothing serious. My taco has 4000 miles on it, and it runs fine, but one of my other vehicles was doing the exact same thing. There was no codes, so based on some advice from a mechanic friend, I put some fuel conditioner in the tank. We were assuming that maybe there was some water in the tank from the last gas station I filled up at. My other truck ran fine after I had driven it for about 15 minutes.

That's exactly it.. It just started yesterday. And no it's not the AC compressor. I made sure it was off when checking this. Will call the dealership and see what they have to say.. Thnx guys for responding. If anyone else has experienced this please chime in..

Sounds like the "unintended acceleration" problem all over again! I thought Toyota fixed that?

I damn near tapped the back wall of my garage yesterday due to this very issue.

I now very gingerly press and release the brake when parking.

I have also experienced this slight surge. It's only happened a few times, but caught me off guard at a stop light. I was actually going to report this on my first service visit since it's very slight. My thought it wait and see if gets worse or is it just a characteristic of the motor for a month or two.

Also, it had zero to do with the AC. AC was completely off and I had both windows down at a stop light.

Guys I called the dealership and hopefully have an update on this by Friday evening.. I'll make sure to post some kind of update.. Same for me if anyone else hears anything about this before I do.. I may show them this thread to show it's not an isolated issue.. Hope no one here minds..

Mine is like that. Not sure it's enough to even bring up to the dealer.

The surge I experience is also relatively slight, but can become a big problem when trying to park very close to something.

I let off the gas and instead of a gentle roll the truck occasionally lunges forward. Parking inches from the rear of my garage - this could potentially be a big deal.

Lol...I think it just has to do with hyper-sensitivity. Its a new car, so owners are going to be on high alert to make sure theres nothing defective (especially since first model years are notorious for issues). I am the same way, it weirded me out at first but then I realized its nothing to worry about.
