Anything new on this subject? Mine doesn't get driven everyday. Sat for about a week and backed it out if the garage and it surged more than it has been. Is colder here so don't know if it's the cold or because it sat longer. I have to squeeze out of the garage slowly, more so even when our Avalon is in the garage. I have not had to go to the dealer yet so haven't discussed it yet. I'm not buying it's normal. My 5th Toyota and have never seen the behavior in any if the others.

Mine does this too, it does it more when its cold... a little less when its warmed up... I wonder if this is a ECM issue when the temps are at each point in the warm up cycle?
I will have the dealer address it....

Bumping an old thread. Having this issue, and never had this happen anywhere close to this degree on any auto trans in the past. Anyone ever get any answers?

No. I just look at it like a Toyota thing and live with it.

Someone mentioned it happening when they turn the wheel. If that is the problem all vehicles do it at an idle. The engine picks up to help the power steering pump work turning the wheels on a stationary or semi stationary vehicle.

Yeah mine was surging a bunch a couple of days ago. I don't understand why little issues would come and go like that, but it was fine today...

This happens when I'm backing out of the garage on a "cold" start. At least that's when I notice it. My wheels aren't turned at all.

Well, I have to take the truck back to have them redo my tint anyway. I'll talk to them about it and maybe fire a couple of new ones up. I'm sure they've never heard of it :/

Just adding to the noise... I have the same thing. I'll be at a stop and feel the truck roll a few inches. I thought I was going nuts or had some balance issue making me feel like I was rolling. Unless I'm working with less than a couple inches, this isn't a problem, but I feel like I just entered the group therapy session.

Since day 1. Like i said, it's so slight that I thought I was just dizzy or the car next to me rolled and made me think it was me. No check engine light or anything tho

I was just joking based on your "group therapy" comment. You're in a safe place here. :)

Took it in.. guys were scratching their head.. No answer after looking it over. But at least it's in the books. Still does it, and though it bugs me a bit, I'm getting used to it..

It's so mellow to me now, we hardly even notice it. Just chalk it up to Toyota characteristics.

I brought home a DCLB 4x4 OR on Saturday and it has this surge problem exactly as described here. I first noticed it on a cold (Phoenix) start reversing out of my garage. It is not 'normal'. Needs to be fixed. Any of you with this surge problem driving 4 cyl 2WD or 6 cyl 2wd?

Found this thread through google. I'm having a strong intermittent surge while sitting in traffic. No AC. No turning. Just sitting. Wonder if there was any solution to this.
