All of that is normal. If you look at the dyno numbers youll see around 2k it drops dramatically then jumps up shortly. Same with stuble at idle, normal.

I just got back my truck from the dealer. Even though I showed them the paper that showed I had picked up multiple misfires, he told me he ran health check on it and came back fine. Which is silly since I told him that there was no CEL so the health check of course would not come back with anything, my paper showed live numbers and what was on the monitors. But with out a CEL they will never acknowledge a problem.

I have a 16 auto with 16k on it. Mine is doing the same thing. Light throttle , miss around 12 to 13 rpm. My service advisor said Toyota is aware of the issue but no fix yet. Love the truck other wise.

@trdgentaco So can it "learn" its way out of these misses? Pretty sure this is what I was experiencing (and complaining about) early on. I'm now at 7300 miles and it really does not seem to do it any more, or not very often. Wondering if you have any updates.

Trdgentaco, how many miles, would you guess, would the truck need to drive for the 2016 Tacoma's "long term fuel trim table" to stabilize?

1500 miles. I was thinking it might need a longer range. But thought it would suck to go through this for thousands of miles every time I change or disconnect the battery. Glad at least toyota knows about this or might be no issue

Mine was sputtering pretty good today at 1,250 RPM @ 50 mph....Not sure what gear but 5th-6th for sure....slight incline, easy on the throttle.

I know someone stated this above, but can you or anyone confirm that Toyota Corp is aware of this and not the potential of a Service Advisor at a dealership looking to pacify a complaining customer?

This thread makes me feel a whole lot less crazy. My gf swears she can't feel it (as a passenger), but this thread confirms what I've been feeling since about 300 miles.

Is feels exactly like my old Porsche did when my coil packs were going bad and it was misfiring. At least the krauts had the decency to throw a CEL (and even limp mode when it got bad).

I mentioned a page or so ago that I am experiencing the same low rpm issue as most are here. Except I don't think it's a misfire. I'm no mechanic but I once had a Honda misfire from a bad spark plug and it threw a code instantly. Totally diferent feeling than what I have now.

This issue feels more like transmission shudder/slip related to me....again I'm no expert. Sure hope someone can figure this out.

I've been getting this too at lower RPMs - cruising at 45-50 and slightly stepping on the gas.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Make sure the spark plugs are tight and engine ducting. I wouldn't put anything past them

I have a manual transmission, so it's not that. Also I posted a few pages back my proof that it is misfires from TIS able computer so, at least for myself, it is actual misfires. Some say it gets better with miles, mine seems to get getting worse, no CEL yet though.

    Gotcha...now I see.

Strange it wouldn't throw a code though. It would nice if it did so you could narrow it down to a say certain cylinder/plug etc.

Yep. Actually it's showing for multiple cylinders. But ya a code would be nice, then I'd know where to look. Sucks hoping for a code, but is what it is

I have this issue as well. It's at low rpms. The truck lags and cuts out. Not is not the ac kicking on. I have about 9k miles on my truck.

I think that's just the normal power band, 1500-2xxx rpm there is a huge dip in hp/torque then about 2500 it kicks back up quickly. A person described it as taps like a fish investigating bait, which is very spot on to what I get

I'm experiencing a similar issue on my 2017 TRD Sport. It only has 150 miles on it, so maybe (hopefully) it will clear up as the ECU finishes its tuning / adjusting to my environment.

The symptom is that when I'm cruising with a constant throttle position at 30 to 45 MPH at 1500 to 2000 RPM, I feel "hesitation and then lurching" every 10 to 15 seconds.
    It is very noticeable.

At first, I thought that it might be caused by the transmission moving between two gears, but I switched to manual shifting mode so that it definitely stays in one gear, and I still feel the hesitation / lurching.

When I turn off the AC, it does get better. Not as much hesitation / lurching, but still some.

My theory is that the engine is switching into Atkinson mode and back out again. Repeatedly. I suspect that when the AC pump is running, the issue is more pronounced.

Is anyone else having this same problem ? Any recommendations ?

I've noticed the same issue shortly after I bought it. When I accelerate normally I feel a "miss or skip or stutter" whatever you want to call it. Seems if I gas it pretty hard I don't notice it. It happens around 1100-1400 Rpms. I bought my 2016 at the end of August. It had 6 miles on it then and almost 3800 on it now. Just gonna have to wait and see what happens. I'll probably ask about it on the 5000 mile service. Gonna have them check the tranny cause I have those issues also.

I have the same symptoms...I plan on calling Toyota before my 5k service and getting case number. Some said it might be a torque converter issue.

You guys that are asking your dealer please keep this thread posted with your results...My dealer had the "deer in the headlights look" when I brought it up.
