    Facts:
    2007 AC 4x4 4.0, OME 885s/dakar, 285/75/16 on steels, 3.73 rear-ass, towing package.

Taking a 2200lb Uhaul car transport to VA and bringing back a 2800lbs sedan.

    concern:
with the 285s and 3.73 I feel that I'm gonna struggle trough mountains and cross-winds... not worried about MPG too much, nor do I hot-dog (75-80MPH) with a trailer, keep it at 60-65max.

what are some experiences with this situation? there are some 245/75/16s and 265/75/16s both with rims on local CL adds but that's just more expenses that I don't need...

You will likely have to keep the trans in 4th to stop it from dowshifting constantly as you hit head winds and inclines. I is alot better for the trans to keep it in 4th than let it keep shifting to keep the heat created from ruining the trans.

I towed my father boat across the mainly flat state of IL and it would downshift anytime I hit a head wind or incline. I was about 4K pounds but the boat is also a good 4-5 feet taller than the tacoma.

Just make sure your truck is compatible with the trailer in terms of electrical connection and that the trailer brakes work correctly you will be able to tell the load is back there once you get the car on there.

Sounds like you are getting the trailer local and then going there. Might as well throw a vehicle on it while you are local to see how it hauls the load. To clear and concerns you have. It will surely do the job but depends on how much it will beat on your truck.

connections are good, might look into a lower tongue after new leaf pack.. . I was thinking along the line of 60MpH in 4th, just can't keep that torque converter to stay locked most of the time in 4th.... the trans has Amsoil in it so does the rear end.

The trailer that's another story, it all depends on whether they serviced it or not, I'll check the brake fluid on the trailer but those surge systems are junk.

You're gonna be fine. Keep the trans out of overdrive.

I hauled about 3,100 lbs of rail road ties in my stock 2007 Tacoam V6 4x4.
It had 3.73 in it also. It down shifted all the time on hills.
I dropped to 4th and drove on. But then again I only did this for maybe 45 miles?
BTW, I'm in East Tennesse with plently of hills. They are every where.
