Hey all, I'm sure to expose my ignorance here, but oh well. I've started to notice a slight "whoosh" or puff of air sound almost (It kind of reminds me of a smaller version of a turbo blow-off sound) when I'm taking off in first gear from a stop in my 2017 TRD Pro. It's right as I push the throttle in and before I've really started to let off the clutch much in 1st gear only. I am pretty sure it wasn't happening before 3000 miles or so, but maybe I just wasn't noticing it before. It's really not that loud. Anyone have any idea what this is?

Did you ever figure this out? I just started noticing the exact same thing on my 2019 pro today. Didn’t notice it at all before 3400 miles and I can’t tell if I’m crazy or if this is normal or what?!?

No one seems to know what I'm talking about. I've had no issues with my truck. I suspect it's something to do with the valves like a transient exhaust blow-off to prevent stalling at low rpms.

    Is yours a manual?

No its an automatic, but it seems to be exactly what you were describing. I haven't noticed any loss of power or fuel efficiency, but accelerating from a stop or if I put the truck in park/neutral and jab at the throttle I can definitely hear some air rushing somewhere. Seems to be coming from the top of the engine right underneath plastic cover, so that would lead me to believe its something to do with the intake. I just haven't noticed it before now and I'm usually very particular with noises coming from my vehicles.

I was mainly trying to determine if this is a normal noise coming from the plastic intake or if I might have a leak somewhere. Didn't have time to bring it into the dealership but I suppose I'll try to find a time to see what they say.

I have a 2017 auto .....when in park and I stab the throttle, it makes an air sound too. Everything runs fine, so I think its normal.

Got a chance to visit the dealership they said it was normal. Also compared it to a friend’s new 2019 he just drive off the lot and it does the same thing. Guess I’ve just been pretty light on the throttle until meow.

My 2010 Tacoma has been making the whooshing noise more and more lately. I'm at 117,000 and it seemed like it only did it after a cold start but now it's happening all the time and usually when it's shifting gears. It's an automatic 4X4.
Has anyone figured out what it is? It doesn't sound normal. It sounds like there is a release or loss of air pressure somewhere.
