Slightly Overwhelmed

Am in the market for a Tacoma to be used as a tow vehicle for a Casita trailer. Incredible amount of information on these forums and I feel slightly informed, but barely so. I have spent hours toiling through the various forums and threads searching and absorbing things I need to know. I have a potential 2016 Tacoma SR5 V6 4fwd double cab short bed( I almost know the abbreviations but don't want to chance a mistake at this point) selected to purchase but am unable to determine at this time if it has a tow package( don't have VIN either). Many threads, much information, some speculation about whether all come with the associated wiring regardless of whether the tow package gets installed. I have the skills to install the coolers but would rather not get into splicing wires as will apparently be needed to wire for the brake controller. Any initial comments or directions to definitive facts would be appreciated. I have seen comments that all 2018 SR5 V6 had the tow package but I need information on 2016. I am in "thread overload" right now but lacking any comments I will continue to slog through this wonderful site. Look forward to contributing as knowledge and questions increase.


Update: 6/13/20 purchased a 2016 SR5, White, 6cyl, Double Cab, 4wd, Factory Tow package, bed liner with rail locking system, ARE shell, 54,000 miles. Local purchase from an younger gentleman(younger than my 69 yrs) who purchased it new. Other than some Alpo chips and dog hair its very clean.

Look under the rear bumper for a receiver hitch. A ball on the bumper will not do. Trailer wiring is plug and play requiring no splices.
