I just installed my second one last night. I live in Pittsburgh and we are die hard Steeler fans. But my friend is in the military and was stationed in the DC. My brother got a job in NYC and lives in NJ. Neither of them get most of the Steeler games unless they are nationally broadcast.

In comes the Slingbox. I set it up at my house and connect it to my local cable. My signal is sent over the internet and broadcast on their TV. They have complete control and can change the channel and even pause/rewind. Nothing more is done on my end. I don't even know when they are using.

If you are a sports fan and do not live local, find someone to hook up a Slingbox and you can watch all the games just like you are home again. Hell, you can watch them on your computer from anywhere in the world!

It's a one-time cost of $250. No monthly charge. We have used one for 3 years now and he has seen every Penguin and every Steeler game (none of which were broadcast locally for him). Just awesome!

I work for a cable company that provides cable to many different cities, these boxes work wonders for us. Have never failed us and everytime I want to control a cable box in another city I just click that city name up comes the picture as well as on on screen remote where I can click buttons with my mouse and control the box.

Absolutely great product well worth the money, also there is a program called orb where you can allow others to watch the movies and listen to the music on your computer over the internet that is really neat.

Makes you wonder how it's even legal!

There is no need to even purchase a cable package. You could LEGALLY watch someone elses cable and have full control over it the channels. For $250, you could save $100/month.

well the thing is that its not perfect quality and there is the possibility of your internet going down causing it to not work, but other than that its pretty good, and the reason why its legal is because its made so that you can watch the programming your paying for over the internet if you say go on a vacation or somewhere that there is no service.

soooo, nothing is required at the receiving end except high speed internet??

Sweet! I am also a diehard Steelers fan, and do not want to pay Directv for NFL Sunday ticket.

That is why both my friend and my brother got it. They both have Direct TV but the cost for the ticket is outragous.

High speed internet and a computer are required on the receiving end. They even sell a Sling Catcher that bypasses the computer so even it is not necessary.

Ideally, you connect the computer to a tv (usually through an S-video cable). Other options are available if your computer doesn't have an s-video output. The signal comes into your computer and is sent to your TV. Set the TV on the right video source and your are getting cable from the slingbox. You can even rewind or pause it through the computer. If you use the sling catcher, you will have a remote to change the channel too.

Nothing is required on the sending side either. Once the slingbox is connected to a router, no computer is necessary to send the signal.

Yes I agree and 250 once beats the 10-20 bucks a month for an extra cable box. you would pay. then you can watch tv in any other room in your house that has a computer. I'm Sold!!
