I am debating on buying a slingshot. I was wondering if anyone on here owns one and whether or not their regretting owning it. It's an unnecessary purchase, but I can't stop obsessing over the idea of buying one. My wife said she probably won't ride in it with me so there's that. Used one's are almost expensive as new ones. Everything is sold separately so you have to spend an extra $5,000 or more just to walk out the door. The wait time to receive a new one could be months. I listed all the negatives, can anyone tell me the positives or why I should or should not buy one.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
I'm not a fan of the Slingshot, but my wife has a Can-Am Ryker and she loves it. She's done some serious road trips with me on my Harley and her on her Ryker. Take a look at them if you're in the market for a three wheeler.

A friend has one. He has to stop and buy a bag of ice all the time as the exhaust roasts his wife's feet.

I would definitely look into renting one first. Sign up for a Slingshot specific forum and spend some time there too. Haven't driven one personally but they do intrigue me a little. For me at least there aree a few more cons that perhaps haven't crossed your mind.

Takes up same amount of storage space as a car while not offering all of the same conveniences.
Not subject to the same safety tests and standards of a car.
Fuel economy worse than a car but not as good as a motorcycle.

I'd personally daily one of these a few times a week if i owned. Not overly practical but not impractical. Get some side bags and a roof and ride from the Spring to Fall...get your money's worth.

I think most slingshot dealers will have a demo model you can try out, and if you enjoy it then go rent one for a day and rack up a couple hundred miles.

I've driven them several times and they are a hoot to steer with the throttle.
