Ok so i have a 09 SR5 with the Auto LSD. Lately the slip indicator and ABS light has been coming on for no reason at all. I dont get any buzzer or anything just the light comes on and will stay on for awhile. I usually have to shut the truck off for 30+mins before it will go away. It been dry for awhile now so no wet roads and it has been on pavement. Of course the owners manual doesnt do me any good for this so i figured i would talk to you guys before i head to the dealership. Any ideas?

I'm thinking that it operates based on a wheel speed sensor in your brake system. I think it is warranty time.

Probably bumped a sensor when they did the TSB. Take it back and have them check it out.

i have a 2005 titan that has an auto LSD and i experienced the same problem that you are talking about.

there were several things that it could be, but it all related to the brake system.
    • make sure that your master cylinder is full (this was the solution for me). as your brakes wear, your calipers collapse down farther which lowers the level in your master cylinder. (although, the titan has rear disks where the tacoma does not. does the same still apply for drums?). anyway, when the master cylindar is low, it affects the LSD system.
    • check your brakes. make sure that there is still plenty of pad on them. (i read that when they get low they effect the wheel sensor and the LSD system)
    • next, it could be one of the wheel sensors that detect the slip which in turn engages the LSD.
    • lastly, it could be the whole LSD computer.
i know they are different trucks, but i bet the LSD systems work similarly enough for you to check the items above.

k thanks guys. Its really weird bc most of the time i go out and turn my truck on to go somewhere and the light just stays on. Its not like the wheels are turning when it happens. Its always when i start it up. so i am taking it in soon for its 10k so i will mention it than.
