    Hey guys, Im new to Tacomaworld here but ready to get things going.

    I have a 2005 4wd. I just replaced my U joints the other day and during the process I discovered my slip yoke on my rear driveshaft was worn out. I tried finding somewhere to get the part (slip yoke) but it is IMPOSSIBLE to find. I've tried ebay and no luck. All local stores and no luck. Im stuck! Starting my first thread with a help me ad is kind of weak :sadviolin: haha but hoping you guys could help me find this part since I can't find it anywhere!

    take it to a driveline shop have them check it out and go from there.

    I took the drive shaft to a drivetrain specialist here in town and he told me he couldn't even find a slip yoke for it. He said its out there, just have to find it. Toyota wants to sell me a whole drive shaft. All other makes sell them for their driveshaft like Nissan for example has the same set up and they sell the part for their trucks.

    are you talking about replacing the piece that actually slides out of the shaft?

    Couple options here:

    Best bet is to find a junkyard shaft from a like model that'll bolt right in. That'll likely be least expensive ($100 to $300 depending on miles and condition).

    Other option is to have a shaft made by a drivetrain shop. That'll cost a bit more ($200 to $400 depending on a number of things).

    For the love of God DO NOT buy a new OEM shaft from the ToMoCo dealer. I don't want to know how much they'd charge, but it wouldn't be pretty.

    I would laugh my fucking ass off.

    They wanted $1300 out of me for a new catalytic converter for my 200k mile Corolla. I told the lady that was half the worth of the vehicle, and no sane person puts that kind of money into a car with this kind of mileage. She just shrugged at me.

    So I went to my local exhaust guy and had a $200 aftermarket cat welded in. So far so good...I know it'll fail sometime in the next year but hell...I can buy 5 of 'em, installed, for the price of the single Toyota cat and I doubt this car will last that long.

    I'm searching junk yards today, maybe I'll fond something. Truck
    Is drivable but can't do any off-roading or towing. I'll keep you guys updated on what I find. I was told the 2wd tacoma's slip yoke would not work on my 4wd?? I don't know that's just what my drivetrain "specialist" said. He was probably just blowing me off because I look like a youngin! Thanks for all the help so far guys.

    I have an 01 tacoma and am currently looking for a new rear drive shaft because my slip yoke/cardan joint is messed up. Can't seem to find them anywhere
