Hi. Looking hard at getting a new 2023, so diving into all the nitty gritty and was wondering this.

On these newest models with the dampener is there a noticable difference using it in fairly cold weather? Is it a lot slower going down or back up compared to non-winter temps? If so, anything help with that, lube etc...? And by cold, meaning down to below 0 at times but usually below +20.

Anyone have a dampener get damaged by being iced up and then moving the gate? Again, lube or de-icer as a preventative?

I tend to use my gate lots more in winter than summer. If it moves slower and requires more force to move at a decent rate, I'd rather know ahead of time to try to prevent any long term dampener damage.

    Thanks

I’ve never noticed a difference, it seems the same. Now that you asked this question I have to pay attention to it this winter. Lol. I don’t believe I had any ice build up in it or any snow getting clumped up in the hinge dampener area.

I do now recall any difference in behavior in low temps.

No issues with ice or snow either...

Only issue I have, is the tonneau seal freezing to the tailgate and making it a temporary pain to open. Other than that, no noticeable difference in opening or closing speed. ( closing is not dampened and manual )
