Glad that a friend pointed me towards this thread, in particular your tubbing work on page 56.

I just sat my truck down on 37’s and now I need to start cutting it up and making room for articulation and turning. Have any tips? What gauge did you use to patch? Any particularly challenging areas? Anything you would do differently? How long did it take you?

Pardon my question blitz, just want to arm myself with as much useful information as possible before I get into this.

I haven’t welded a lick yet, but my welder just showed up today, so I’m going to start practicing, I only have it set up for 0.035 flux core, don’t have a shop so have to weld outside, and also doing bumpers and sliders, hoping I can find a good low setting for the sheet metal with that thicker wire, I know 0.023 would be better, but I think I’ll get by. We shall see, lol.

Either way just take the suspension out and start cycling and cutting. All there is too it. It's a simple process that you'll quickly see is also not easy haha but totally do able.

I'd get 20ga steel if you want to form one large piece by hand. If you cut it up and weld in chunks then can do 16ga. I did 20 and shaped it in one piece.
