I do to, but I never really liked the look of the tail lights since they get sort of a cross-eyed look... ya know? So the goal is to do this and keep those lights pointing straight back. That should also halp the tailgate fit back into place better, so that's nice...

Didn't get any progress done tonight, but here are some pictures from last night

Finished cutting/grinding for the dovetail and put a couple tacks on her just to keep it in place for now..

    Haha, nice!

Your tacks that suck are better than mine :anonymous:

Btw, probably a stupid question but how far back did you cut for the dovetail? I'm assuming all the way back but for some reason I'm wondering if you stopped at wheel wells? :notsure:

Looks good. Excuse my ignorance, but what are you doing with the tailgate once you dovetail the rear? Won't the tailgate not fit anymore?

You do the same thing to the tailgate as you did the bed. Cut a section out and weld it back together

ahahaha lies! Just about everyother tack is burned through! Thinking about just getting a harbour freight 110v MIG to finish up.....

Not stupid, man, I cut all the way to about half an inch before it started going vertical on the cab side. It just starts getting pretty narrow at the wells since I'm only taking 4" of each side...
Thanks! Jon is correct, I'll basically just take an 8" wide section out of the tail gate and weld it back together with shortened cables on the inside and anything I have to do to make it work. :)

Thanks, man! I may just do that.... Get everything on held on by a couple tacks, and then we can use a mig for the rest of it.... I will let you know!

Haha yeah, every time my brother looks at it he says it's retarded and is becoming less and less useful. After I bobbed the bed I told him I'd start calling it "the short bus" just for him.

The only comment my uncle said after seeing it was "you'll never be able to sell that thing."

You do know its gonna be super hard to bob it on your truck cause of the plastic.
