Personally I think the rear is flexing just fine. This is like polishing a turd. You're wasting effort trying to get more flex from the rear when you still have IFS front. SAS so you can flex the front to match the rear and there won't be anything to whine about.

    Ding ding ding

The rear is flexing great. Not going to get much better till something up front changes..even extended coil overs would help.

I am just not getting the point of it all really haha I'd leave it it works. And your selling it.

Sorry, guys. No disrespect, but I disagree with the underlying premis there. There is truth to your statements though...

Sure, the rear flexes fine the way it is. Sure, it may be a wasted effort to get a few more inches outta the rear when the front is still IFS. At this point, I'm simply trying to make what I have, operate to it's fullest. Meaning that I want to see the shackles stop binding during articulation, I would like to see the shackles use all their available arc when the springs are fully broken in, and I would like to use most of the available travel from the shocks. I absolutely don't think it's a waste of time to try and make what I have now operate the way I built, designed, and intended it to. I might not succeed in meeting my full desires, but I don't think that matters... I will be satisfied (even if I don't see much improvement during flex) with the knowledge that there is nothing left to adjust and that my rear suspension is operating to it's fullest capability.

I'll have the shiniest turd on block when I'm done. :bananadead:

Maybe we should rename my truck to Shiny Turd......... buahahaha

    None taken :p

But I have a MUCH more simple solution for you..

Why not flare the shackles themselves? Like our stock ones, wider up on the frame and then skinnier where meets the leafs. So for you make like .5-.75 spacers for each side of the creepier joint...get what I'm saying??..that would allow the leafs to twist without contacting the creepers..

Just a thought..seems a hell of a lot more simple.

That's a very good suggestion, Monte... I might just do that. That's not the main problem at this point, so I don't think it'll work as just a substitute solution, but I think it should allow the shackles to deflect even more once the springs are in a good position. The main problem is that the leaf springs are too far outboard and pulling the shackles to the outside even when twisting on full droop.... which is causing tension and binding where the leaf spring meets the shackle. My goal is to eliminate most of the twist in back half of the springs at full droop, which will relieve the binding/tension at the spring/shackle joint and allow the shackle to swing further forward. ---> more droop once the springs break in. The necessary sacrifice is a slight amount of twisting in the rear half of the leaves at ride height. I'll try and keep that twisting as small as possible since I believe Adam is right... Twisted springs at ride height will wear out the springs and bushings faster. I'll be sure to get exact measurement of everything with my angle finder when I'm done...

Silas, I hope you don't take what I said as a criticism. Just trying to help simplify for you if I can. I applaud your effort to get the most out of your setup and you've made some bitchin changes this year. Think about it, just over a year ago you were still rolling around with a 2WD truck. Now you've got a sweet wheeler. Nicely done my friend. Don't let opinions, especially mine, sway you from your goals. They're just opinions.

Ok, Adam, and thank you! I'm not taking your advice as criticism, I just thought the polishing a turd comment was pretty funny. :D (I have an odd sense of humor. haha) I actually highly value your opinion and welcome any feedback you see fit to give! You had some awesome points in that comment that I was over-looking. It would be retarded on my part to ignore someone with as much experience as you have.

I think it worked guys.... Going to finish up the bump stops in the morn and then hopefully go to the Puerco to test everything out again... I'll take better pictures and get measurements then.

Re-drilled 9/16" holes in the perches
    [IMG]

Everything installed, shackle at ride height.. springs are dovetailed by half an inch  so not much..

but it seemed to make the difference i was looking for. now i've got MUCH less twisting/binding at shackle/spring joint

Yes, with the Duplicolor flavor... I do recommend it if your paint is in bad shape like mine was... Much less expensive, will last, and I've come to like the look.
