Pretty sure it's going to be listed at $14,500 or $15,500 once I finish it.. (Narrowing it down still)

Welding on some steering bumps right now, actually... Then I just have to fix the flapping gas tank lid, clean up some rough edges on my fenders, install my t-case skid/crossmember, then uber detail the whole thing! quick alignment and a rotation/balance and she'll be ready.

Sooo how bout an actual build update!!! :D sorta...

I mostly finished up my steering stops. Still have to fine tune with the grinder, and then paint.. I decided to make some steering stops for 2 main reasons: 1) my tires DO rub the frame at full lock. 2) both of my CV breakages on 37s have been when the wheel was turned all the way (which causes the outside joints to bind). I would have clearanced the frame if it weren't for the binding CVs..... this is simpler, easier and reversible anyway.

Also, my tires rubbed the front bumper, so I cut the ends back to match the fender lines, capped and repainted.

Interesting..... my passenger side rubs worse than the driver side. I think you're sitting a little wider than I am, so it makes sense that you're rubbing less on the frame, than I am. I'm on an 8" wheel at about 2.5" backspacing with spacers.. Aren't you at 9" wheel with 2.5" BS?

yup, on each side.. I would need 2" BS with my 8" wheel to equal his width, and if you don't want to lose some steering radius or rub the frame with 37s and 8" wheels, it looks like you need just about 1.75" BS wheels! (achieved with spacers most likely) or 2.25" BS on a 9" wheel :notsure:

    Hmmm...seems starting with a 3.75 and then 1.5 spacers.

Or go to a 10" rim..but..that would make rubbing in the fenders shitty haha

Me too, man, that's sounds just about perfect...

yeah, but there's room in the firewall and cab mount, I think, to accommodate that little extra width... I personally wouldn't go with a 10" wheel just because I think it's too wide period. narrow is nice in the rocks :D

Silas, can you measure how long your stock CV is?

Sure, man. At school right now, but I can measure it tonight. The whole thing tip to tip fully compressed, right? Why do you want to know?

Looking at swapping a 2nd gen diff..looking half promising actually. Just want to compare numbers.

    I have 29" for a stock 2nd gen cv.

I didn't think to compress mine... I just measured it while it was sitting on the floor. haha. Guess I'll have to redo that when I get home tonight.

Think the tundra axle measurement isn't compressed..

That picture that Jberry posted says it is a compressed measurement as does the 2nd gen pic I posted.

    Sick, man!!!!!!!

:notsure: How else would you get an exact measurement? You can't measure a CV axle accurately with it just sitting on the ground since different variables could change the length by as much as several inches... (amount of grease, type or condition of boot, or even how you handled it before measuring can all change where that tripod joint is sitting in the cup) I'd think you'd need the compressed total length along with how much travel it has is the tripod joint (tulip cup, or whatever it's called haha) Ya know what I mean?
