I don,t get it the OP has a concern he turned to TW Members for some answers. I bought a 40K Mini Cooper and that thing leaked sealant as soon as it hit 95 degrees BMW claimed it is impossible but it leaked. Me and other forum members had the same problem fought and BMW fixed it under Warranty after 9 month finally. It bothers him it is his Truck and his $$!!! I am new to the Truck/Tacoma myself came here to learn some things get some good advise find some good vendors but it sure looks like I am back in Kansas again.:ohsnap:

I can't stress this enough. Always look under a vehicle before you buy it new or used. I got criticized when I pointed out the 3rd gen's came with unfinished spot welds along the frames that eventually forms rust on them. You don't see that on new 4Runner and Land Cruisers frames.

Thank you I was not aware of that. I did a lot of reading and research before I test drove the Truck compared it with other Brands drove those too and decided the Tacoma is the right Truck for my needs. If I buy another truck down the road the advise from FF will come in handy. Thank you again:thumbsup:

New trucks are costly way to much and lots of recall issues as well my opinion just sloppy plant work build them cheap and quick sell them high$$$$ the American way older vehicles seem to be made better that's why I go vintage I don't think I would go past 2005 on a Tacoma had many classic trucks and cars in my day and not a lot of major issues good vehicles but friends of mine have had new tacomas Jeep's Chevy's and nothing but headaches and problems so go figure ?

Probably jumping to conclusions here but feel like it's similar to my VW days of the 90's..
Everyone wanted a Made in Germany & not Mexico car, same engineering, totally different places.
Seems like the Japanese made Toyotas have less 'sloppiness'. A TSB or Recall is one thing & to be expected of newer releases but sloppy work, that's just crap when we're paying overseas quality premiums.
Damn you corporate profit margins for beginning to ruin a legacy..

It's not sloppy work,it's just the process. The sealer is laid in a bead then it's brushed into place, filling the voids. Function over form here people, jesus.

He got his answer , it should be there and it doesn't have to look pretty and it would be stupid to bring it up to the dealer . Like others have said if he doesn't like it buy some spray paint and touch it up .

I agree with Plain Jane Taco on this one- get out there and enjoy that truck!! The memories you make over the years will far outweigh any sloppy sealant grievances.

Is it actually beige or just dusty? Looks like it’s just dusty. That stuff is slathered on my cheap-ass 2017 TRD as well, but I accept it for choosing an inexpensive Toyota, rather than the premium-priced Ford or Jeep.

People are upset about how sealant looks on their frame?? You never see it.

You guys would really be upset about the amount of penises and other stuff drawn on the other side of your drywall lol

I took it to a dealer. They looked at mine, I looked up the skirts of theirs. All the Tacomas on the lot had identical swathes of silicone painted all over their frames as well but in black. They contacted the factory in San Antonio and were told they simply ran out of black sealant and chose to use tan instead. It's cosmetics and at the end of the day yes, the off color splashes can be rattlecanned to similar obscurity with a can or two of black rustoleum. That and caked mud. One of my initial concerns was perhaps down the road potential buyers might see it and think I... painted it with the intention of Hiding Something. I know Toys sell themselves but if I were to sell someday I'd want top dollar. I also got the dealer to make written mention of it as just an off color factory blemish but again, its getting painted.

Mine has it in black, and I'm glad it has it, it'll be covered in mud by next month anyway.20190804_143455.jpg
