If so I want to let u know that your videos have been a huge help for me when I did the tundra brake upgrade, and I will use your videos for the ubj and rack n pinion job. Hopefully this rack will work out for me but if it doesn't you can say "I told you so!!!" :)

Yes, I'm Timmy the Toolman. I'm just trying to give you some helpful information regarding aftermarket steering racks became I've read the stories on Facebook and Toyota forums about aftermarket racks failing. One guy admitted it was his 4th or 5th time replacing one because they kept failing but he had the lifetime warranty. I asked him basically what I've asked you, "What's you time worth?" This is the main thing people forget when buying something based off the lifetime warranty promise. Sure, they'll give you a new rack but they're not going to compensate you for your time or money you spend at a shop.

Good to hear you've found our videos helpful.

Hi Tim - A great thanks for your videos as well. With your help, I've replaced the LBJs, outer tie rods, springs, shocks, belts, resolved CELs, etc...
My rack is a little sloppy and leaks. I don't think the bushings alone will solve the issue, and it seems like a wasted effort to replace just the inner the rods if the rack is leaking and worn (175K on original rack).
Are there any reliable sources for remanufactured versus aftermarket? I see a number of remans saying they use all OEM parts.
I totally agree on the "what's your time worth" adage. But, can you get a reman rack for half a new OEM... any thoughts?
    Thanks again.

I just replaced mine with a Detroit axle steering rack for $190 bucks and it works great so far. It comes with the inner tie rods

Cool. Is it remanufactured, or aftermarket? Or is that a distinction without any real difference?

So it is reman i think but pretty much all aftermarkets are remanufactured parts. The deal is you return your old oem rack to them and you get a lifetime warranty on their rack if something goes wrong.

The part comes with all the bushings except the c shaped one on the right. However, the previous owner had the rack bushings replaced like 4 years ago so I just reused it. If I were u I would take a quick look at that one and decide if u need to get a new one.

Yeah I did so I put Jack stands underneath the rack so that it was supported after I got the bolts out. Grab a flare nut wrench 17mm for the lines if u don't have it. Also, check your sway bar bushings before the job because you'll be taking it off anyways
