Slow as $hit

I thought today was Friday reading this thread...

 

It's not slow for a pickup truck.

It's slow for a sport car.

It's painfully slow for a motorcycle. OK, not for a Harley, but yeah, for real motorcycles it's painfully slow.

A Tacoma isn't a sport car or motorcycle.

Want fast? Buy a Tesla S, or Ducati 1098S. Anything else is slow as isht.

Wanna haul some heavy stuff in comfort and not worry about it breaking down? Buy a Tacoma or Tundra.

Wanna tear up some forestry service trails that are impassable to a tank? You want a horse.

 

The 1981 Z28 had a whopping 165 hp out of the 5.0L V8 when first released.
IROC took it to an amazing 225hp.
3rd gen Tacoma is faster then the 1981 Z28 and most other models in the early years of that redesign as hard as it is to believe.

 

I’d like to clarify that I don’t judge anyone for trying to get their power output up on a Tacoma, despite my trash talk. Which is just for funsies. On an enthusiast forum, you’ll encounter all types of modding directions.

I do judge people (harshly, with good reason) who come here having EXPECTED that the Tacoma be all the things it isn’t, chiefly, fast as fuck, only to create a thread about how weak it is. Those people are morons.

Just wanted to put that out for my aspiring turbo bros. You’re making a mistake, but I admire you putting what equates to a nasa moon lander under your hood.

Nuff t' know that if horses were easier to catch, cow wouldn't be nearly so popular.

 

I guess I knew what I was getting and I’m happy with mine. I used to have a Frontier with a 4 liter and it wasn’t any faster. The big thing with Tacoma is it sometimes struggles to find the right gear. But, I get a lot better gas mileage than I did with the Frontier and that matters to me.

 

if you think your automatic Tacoma is slow here are you options:
3 pedals and a stick
ov tune
sit and wait for ov tune forced induction systems
go buy a POS ford

the 3.5 pulls harder than the 4.0 with less displacement its been 4 years lets get over loosing .5 liters of displacement pls

 

5.1 not 6.8 but ok
