I have been chasing a mysterious coolant leak on my 3rd gen with 2GR-FKS engine. It was extremely slow and from the front of the engine. I could not find any forums posts on this issue and wanted to make sure everyone is aware of this pipe.

    PN: 162680P060

This pipe connects the thermostat housing to the heat exchanger down by the bottom of the radiator.

A small (I mean so small it did not even drip on the floor) crack developed in the weld between the mount tab and the pipe on my crossover pipe (PN: 162680P060).

Toyota wanted 10 hours to replace the pipe. After doing the job I see why but it really was not to bad. It took me 4 hours the first time. Would probably take half that the 2nd time.

To replace you need to remove:
    -Fan
    -Fan shroud
    -Power Steering Pump
-Front inlet if you have an aftermarket intake with a front inlet (Injen Evo or AFE GT Momentum)

It is crazy how complex vehicles have become, glad you were able to diagnose and fix the problem.

I am working on finding my own coolant leak.
Local dealership in maine said i had an oil leak, told me it was near the timing chain/belt. And quoted me 25 hours labor to fix. Funny thing is oil is not leaking, coolant is maybe 1/2 cup over 500 miles…. Not sure i trust them now to fix it. Plus you can visibly see the coolant level(that they did not top off during service ).
