Has anyone else noticed how slow the Qi charger charges? My Audi Qi charger is much much faster.

Plus, mine usually "charges" for about 20 minutes before overheating. Doesn't matter whether my phone is in a case or not. It overheats using the Taco wireless charging every time.

So far, it's been a useless feature for me, and I haven't yet come across any good modifications/replacements to fix the problem.

Same, and I added a large wireless charging battery case to mine...and it still doesn't charge for crap. And it got HOT.

Turns out that I don't need it or use it since getting the phone mount and running a long cable from the DC plug in the console to the phone. Problem solved, and the console area is still uncluttered.

Never had an issue with mine. It charges adequately. Was using iPhone 8 and now 11. Although it’s more of a backup charging thing as I sit my phone on a mount now. To each their own I guess.

Qi is a neat feature. But, I would rather have the compartment for storage rather then charging. Since I have to tether to the truck for Android auto, it's already keeping my phone charged.

Qi is not the same as Qi. Like the USB standard, there are many different types that range in speed and power. For Qi, this ranges from 5 watts (version 1.0) to 30watts (version 1.2.3). Y

can read about the different version on the Qi wiki page here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi_(standard)

I found a rav4 post from 2019 where someone said a dealer in Canada said it's speced for 5w which sounds about right.

    https://www.rav4world.com/threads/qi-charger-question.298711/

Why would they bother giving us anything better when they can't even update the USB port power.

This makes so much sense, like how I can’t expect to recharge my iPad using my iPhone adapter.

Interesting, I bet we have the low power one. Mine works just fine, not as well as my fast charging wireless I have on my night stand (that one also has a fan to keep the phone cool). The one in the truck to me works like a regular non-fat charger would. It doesnt charge fast, but does charge about 10% or so on a 20 min drive, enough to make it worth having to me. My phone gets warm too but that's expected, not too hot to touch tho.

Yup it charges super slow. I use a 12v usb charger for short trips.

You have an adapter you put into cigarette lighter area? Which one do you use? I'm probably going to end up tapping behind cigarette light and add a new usb somewhere else.

Its a gimmick. Mine always beeps and flashes at me after about 30 minutes making my phone too hot to touch.

    What phone?

I have a pixel 4xl. Using a proper 15watt Qi charger, mine works great. I've never had heat issues.
