The truck I am driving now is a 2004 2.4L A/T. There are times when I put my foot deep into the pedal and it will pull and have a lot of power from a red light or a stop. There are also times it does not do that and it feels like its groggy and has a hard time getting up to speed. I know this isn't known for being the most powerful engine but it is just not consistent. If anyone knows anything that would help, it would be greatly appreciated.

I mentioned something similar to another OP but I urge you to carefully monitor your air intake temperature with a ScanGauge2 for the next week or two. You might find that sluggishness is correlated with high air intake temperature.

I have the same experience as you. For a time, I felt frustrated. However, my 3RZ is in exceptional condition so sluggishness is, in my estimation, the consequence of operating conditions like air intake temperature.
