After 5 years living with a Cap, it is just part of the truck. Who's in a hurry anyway with a 2.7. Mine does not leak, great storage, and even sleep in it on occasion.

You just raised the center of gravity at the rear of the truck. You're probably feeling that it's less nimble and responsive rather than sluggish. When I added a cap I felt the difference too, you're not imagining it, but I describe it as feeling more truck like. The Tacoma is a light vehicle stock.

Mine does not seem faster after a wash and vac but seems to ride better. Have noticed this with all of my vehicles over the years.

I installed the ARE cx and yes I noticed the same things ! After 3 months of that feeling and not liking the way it made my truck look I sold it .

It is good to find another owner with the same experience, so appently it is not my imagination.

I do like the look of my truck with the cap so plan to keep it.

    Thanks for sharing.

I put an ARE MX cap on my truck a few months ago. I notice it is slower now. It is not a big deal to me, the pros outweigh the cons for me.

The problem is between your ears. A 180 lb weight difference will make no measurable difference in power and the improved aerodynamics may well improve fuel mileage. It is easy to convince our brains such things are real though.

    Disagree.

It may be less noticeable to some, with some configurations of their truck - but my 225 lb shell is quite obviously there.
