Anyone find their 19 Tacoma being pretty sluggish? Really hate to leave it in ECT mode all the time...

Mine is not sluggish. Usually drivers behind me push me forward to around 30MPH and then I put it in D from N. Works well.

I’ve got about 9,000 on it currently. Guess I’ll start saving for OVtune.

My '18 isn't sluggish at all.
If you feel the need, will leaving it in ECT all the time hurt anything?

I'm sure it doesn't hurt to leave in this mode, just can't understand why they didn't make the shift points different out of the factory. MPG I guess..

I have recently purchased 2019 trd Offroad. Same exact color as you :)

My truck isn’t sluggish though. You press the gas pedal and it goes fine. However it’s weak. Shifting above 35 mph is erratic at best. It tends to want to find 6th gear for no reason at all. My wife’s terrain is a 4 cylinder and I made fun of it for so much downshifting. However her vehicle at least knows to hold before shifting to top gear and typically won’t unless doing above 50mph to eliminate up down up down up down up down.....

If Toyota figures out what gm has on my wife’s terrain then surely Toyota will make it better. The gas pedal issue I have though I’ll never get used to. I drive an Altima for work to cut fuel costs. No sense in driving a truck at 18-20 mpg instead of a car that gets 32+. Since I drive the car more often, and it’s gas pedal is perfect, I’ll never get used to the delayed pedal on my Tacoma. First initial ‘light’ press of the pedal is dead and nothing happens. You barely touch my Altima, my wife’s terrain, or my 2015 Tacoma that I traded for this one.... they all work as should. My 2019 just isn’t right and likely never will be.

Ironically enough, my wife also has a Terrain; 6 cyl., and I've thought the same thing. If it would shift like hers it would be much better....I have to ask, is hers white? LOL

I could whine about my sub-15mpg all day long but I don’t understand all the complaints on here about sluggishness or lack of stock power.......My 2018 Tacoma isn’t the most powerful truck i’ve driven, but it’s probably one of the quickest........and yes, i’ve driven many fast cars and bikes so I understand what’s fast.
Still gonna buy OV Tune though.

This is one of the common complaints from people. Alot of people do OVtune to correct the shift points fix the gear hunting issues. Me, i dont notice anything off with mine so i havent felt the need yet to tune it.

The throttle lag is bad. ECT helps some with response but the initial throttle press there is a good second before it reacts. If my truck is idling and you tap the throttle an inch in and let off, the motor won’t rev until the peddle is back in its neutral position. Also doesn’t help that the truck shifts every time you press the throttle making it feel more laggy. Just the way it is unless you get OVTune
