Does it drive any different from the day you bought it?

My 2019 isn't sluggish at all. In fact, it's rather peppy. I haven't even tried the ECT mode. I haven't felt a need for it.

Casey2012, what year is your truck, and did they charge you for the throttle sensor?

    I just added Sprint Boster

    https://www.sprintboosterusa.com/product/sbto1033s-sprint-booster-select-v3/

And also added Shift Sense Pro V2

    https://www.dz-custom-innovations.com

I first installed the Sprint Booster. I like the change in throttle response on Sport Mode L4. Race mode is way more response than I need. It is definitely noticable and trottle lag is for the most part completely gone.

Then I put in the Shift Sense Pro V2. Easy install even with poping the shifter console to connect the unit to the shifter connector. I like this unit on economy setting. On Default it was hanging 3rd a little longer than what I think it should be for my around town driving. Economy setting kicks 3rd in a little sooner and drives nicely. I would like it to shift 1 mile or so sooner at 3rd and 4th. Currently 3rd kicks in at 35 and 4th at 45. 5th engages at 55. I haven't hit the highway yet to see how 5th feels Only driven about 45 minutes since adding these two accessories. So far I'm liking them.

I'm happy with my '18 Sport. It's a good pickup truck. It hesitates like any drive-by-wire vehicle, but it does pickup truck stuff very well.

I'm happy with my wife's Crosstrek (38 mpg is nice!) Hauls a ton of groceries.

I'm happy with my Ducati Monster, an excellent blend of sport/tour. Spend $7500 on twin turbos, then I'll race you for the title.

I'm happy with my Honda Rubicon ATV. It's unstoppable!

I'm happy with my Kubota tractor. You may have driven over a stump or two, but this guy goes straight through stumps and shreds whatever's left.

See where I'm going with this?

I forgot my Yamaha dirt bike, my Bike Store Best BMX, ice skates, Scout PPG and its three different parasails, and then I've got boots, sneakers, slippers, dress shoes, 10mm sockets, 11mm sockets, 12mm sockets...

    Maybe I'm a hoarder!

It more than likely does, with the adaptive transmission learning.

Could it also be that the automatic still shifts a little different as it did 3-4 years ago and new buyers are just discovering it and finding this resource and asking for help?

Mines a manual and it's weak as a popcorn fart too unless you are nearing redline. The torque just isn't there in a usable RPM range.

I broke mine in the way i drive which is kind of hard. It took awhile but it learned and at 1200 miles it is getting up to 24 mpg and has good pickup off the line. Works great in the oregon sand dunes.

    My two cents...

I have SSP and OVTune on 33s, with 5.29 gears coming next month. I’m getting the gears because neither has fixed the truck and I need some tow power.

That being said, I believe SSP has made the bigger difference in drivability on my 18. I would suggest you start there, it keeps the truck in the usable power band much better than OVTune.

SSP can be had for less than $200, if you don’t like it you can sell it for ~$50 loss. To be honest, you could find a used SSP for ~$120 and lose almost nothing if you don’t like it and sell it. OVTune can be had for $700+ and if you don’t like it you’ll lose $3-4 hundred getting rid of it. Gears will cost you about $2300 and are a relatively big loss if you want to get rid of them.

Where are you? If local to Virginia you could drive my truck and judge for yourself.

Removing the shell of a snail doesn’t make it faster, only more sluggish.

But in all seriousness, this is a truck we’re talking about. I find using ECT and driving in S5 is a nice blend of power to mpg.

I'm getting the same 24mpg on the highway.
