    BUT FIRST!!

Well now that I am on my 2nd tacoma I figured I might as well make a build thread for it. But first i must pay tribute to my last tacoma, my 1999 automatic 2.4l extended cab 5 lug, a.k.a cholo rider a.k.a mini turk a.k.a lil taco. This is a long tribute, its basically an entire build thread.

Here it is the day i bought it, a little more than 2 1/2 years ago, with 24,000 original miles.

this is the oldest odo picture i have, it is rolling over 30k
    0830000752.jpg

the stock grille was cracked, so in the deal the dealer agreed to give me the money for a new grille. I took that money and put it towards a billet grille

    134.jpg

The stock wheels with hub caps didn't look fly enough, so wheels and lo pros came next

    b.jpg

I didnt plan on lowering it when i got it, but i hated the wheel gap so i lowered it 2"

I wanted a little bit of bass, so i put in a new deck and a 10" sub. the amp was in the cubby under the seat

After that the badges all came off, I dont have any specific pictures of that.

I spent a lot of time and work and shaved my tailgate. My build thread on that is on CT, but for some reason the pictures dont show up if you are a guest:(

Next i decided i was tired of riding on bump stops every time i put something in the bed, so i put on some monroe air shocks (also cut down bump stops). Install thread : http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/158498-got-some-adjustable-air-shocks.html

i had the idea to put 4 rectangular fog lights in the front mouth of the bumper for quite a while, so eventually i decided to finally do it. Build thread: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lighting/171227-one-kind-1st-gen-custom-light-install.html

And here ends my build for my 99'. I sold it at 38,680 miles. Im going to miss that truck a whole hell of a lot. The only reason i was able to live with my self if i sold it was because i got another tacoma that is almost identical. Ill never forget you mini turk

And here is lil taco's successor.

    new turk.jpg

It is a 1996 automatic 2.7l extra cab 4x4 with 122k miles, about 5 minutes after buying it stopping to get a bottle of water and take a piss before driving it 120 miles home.

I usually average about one major mod every 3-4 months, depending on how "major" the mod is and what maintenance expenses come up first. so this will probably be a fairly slow build, but i plan on keeping it for 4 more years so i will have plenty of time.

and heres a sneak peek at my first mod, soon to come.

alright, well i got the new lights^ put in. wow these things are stupidly bright. my pictures don't convey how bright these things are. i am really not sure if i can use them on the road...i might blind people. These things just shoot out light everywhere. my only concern (other than blinding people) is the plastic grille melting from the heat of the lamps

i took out the grille (massive pain in the ass) and cut out the plastic bars where the light would go, and drilled a hole in the lower plastic lip of the grille

I am making this the chronological off road time line of my truck.

Comprehensive Condensed Off Road Time Line

First time trying it out. Thought i was all cool off roading lol.

I did a little bit more, still enjoying my new found ability to use 4wd

Wouldn't call this off roading, but this is what I bought the truck for. Snow

I had to test out my sliders before MOAB.

Then, well, I went to MOAB.

Then with my new found off road skill I wheeled a bit of Idaho desert lava rock

I TRIED to go wheeling, but didn't make it very far...

Lets try it again. Winter wheeling with Andy

Did some more wheeling while I waited for my bumper to be done, andy got stuck again

Got a bumper, found some jeeps, and went wheeling (so did andy)

Went on a club run with Idaho 4x4 to hooker canyon

got stuck. was wedged in between 2 rocks with 2 tires off the ground and sitting on my frame

its ok, this nissan was blocking the other part of the trail too

    herp derp. double winch time

    [IMG][/url]

Went on a night run with HDOR club

This trail was a ton of steep loose rocky hill climbs. The trail got significantly worse than the last time the guys ran it. Had to use my locker quite a few times or i would have spent a ton of time bumping stuff and hoping all over the place.

Sweet 60 series LC I was with last night
    [IMG]

This is where the 2 door jeep broke the rear drive shaft and had wiring issues. had to winch it up this and drag it off the rest of the trail. That jeep was so useless. had zero flex, and could hardly move on its own...then broke.

Let it be known that on Jaunary 7th 2014 i finally found a use for this reserved post from when i made the thread

Note: Im not a pic heavy kind of person. i dont document each step.
however, if you see anything that ive done and you have a question just ask about it and i can go take pics and answer as best as i can, and get into high detail

I installed my cobra 18 into the dash and hooked up a 4 ft firestik, and it was the most painstaking install I have ever done. It took 3 install attempts, about 9 hours over 3 days to trim and test fit and re-trim the piece of shit aftermarket plastic radio bracket and also wire, install and tune the antenna. But that was easy. But finally its in.

the antenna is mounted to the bed rail and the power wires are tapped into the radio and cig lighter fuses.
