Not sure if something got caught when I was putting stuff in and out of the bed (really doubt this is what happened) or if someone was trying to get into my bed one night, but I noticed a small bend on the left side of my tailgate near the top where it meets the bedside. Looks like the paint is scratched and missing there also. Maybe someone got something wedged in there and tried to get it out?

Didn't notice it until this past Saturday and it's been snowing a bunch around here since.

That sucks, but how do I fix it without taking it to a shop. I'm really more worried about more paint chipping off and rust happening.

Do I get some vice grips and try to bed the metal on the tailgate back with a cloth between it to prevent more scratches? Do I need to sand the paint down and use a paint pen? Didnt find too many threads on this. Most are for super white and they use some kind of white stuff to fill in chips.

Certainly bending it back with a rag will get the metal back into shape, but the paint has chips creating the change in surface. The paint pen would just fix the lack of paint, not the fact that it needs to be filled with something. The proper way to do it would be sand it down, use some light bondo to build it back up, then paint and coat.
