    Yeah my guess is a worried parent installed it, or someone worried about theft. It's definitely on the dealership to safely remove, it though - I absolutely wouldn't want that on my truck.

    Let us know what ends up happening! I'm invested now.

    Most likely no cut-off but only a tracking device. More and more companies put them in their fleet of vehicles. Yours could be one of them.

    What you have is the Gold Star GPS Device that is used by auto dealers to track financed vehicles for recovery.

    Gold Star Talon to be exact. Here is the installation instruction PDF. It may help you reverse and un-install it.

    ** I guess I should have read the entire thread before posting. Many have beat me to the punch... It does look to be easy to remove and return to normal however.

    Some insurance company's will let put a tracking device on your vehicle if you sign up with there program and your rate is based on how many miles you drive and how fast you drive.

    It may be one of those. State Farm does this. The previous owner may have done that.

    Had one on my new truck when I bought it. The dealer pulled it out. It was a dealer trade and they drove it up. I imagine it was installed to track during the swap.
