What the Fn heck is up with these small companies taking advantage of people and the system; I’m talking sole-proprietorship comps, we all know what the big ones do. Man I am real close to calling this company out and stating names because I am so sick of the crap these owners pull. Extreme favoritism, tax fraud, walking all over the people they employ just because they can get away with it, not complying with gov and state regulations & laws… you name it.

By the way it’s not my job, but someone who is very important to me. It just kills me to know the crap that goes on with this company and not share this information with its customers.

I want to hear from others about this. Anyone else in a situation where you have some serious dirt on some owner/company and want to share so bad, but can’t for certain reasons (i.e. getting this person/yourself fired)?

I need to stop because I have probably already said too much.

Vent people of Tacoma World, I want to hear it!

Keep in mind this crap really has an impact on all of use. For example company right-offs, we all know owners do this in moderation, but when its extreme think of the impact this has on the country’s debt. How does this impact our children’s life or our children’s children? So many issues as it is with this country and yet GREED, the ultimate problem, continues to grow and grow.

I've worked for very small and extremely large companies, both have their pros and cons. Plain and simple, if you work for a tiny company and the Owner is a dirt bag, you need to leave. I understand employment is hard to come by these days but there are limits.

    lol^^

but here's the thing OP, we don't know your story cause you really wont tell us anything. if i had to guess? your wife makes shit money working for a friend she quit her old job over and makes a lot less money than she thought she would and he bought a new tahoe this week and it pisses both of you off.

now, what about it has made you hate small business so much? small business is the american dream. . we're gonna need more details to figure out what your'e talking about, or to "side" with you.

Not all small companies take advantage of people...the same goes with large companies, and all sizes of companies for that matter. In fact, only a small % actually break the rules, and those are the ones you hear about. I run a small landscaping business (sole proprietorship) and I play by the rules.

If the person you know is continually getting "screwed" and the company is shady, then it's time to find a new employer. That's the beauty of our country, you can go work somewhere else. It might take a little time to find another job, but eventually they'll find something.

Eventually they will get what's coming for them if they're breaking the rules. A buddy of mine ran his business under the table for a while and kept everything in cash to avoid taxes and eventually he got tired of having to hoard cash at his house (unsafe) and the IRS sent him a deficiency letter saying he owes them $20k or he can appeal it and they'll audit him. In the letter they listed all of his bank accounts in his name and the balances in each account. He quickly stroked a check for $20k and completely legitamized his business. Since he's done that, he's actually way more successful than he was when he was trying to stay under the radar and dodge the bullet.

Greed its the American way ...... Love it or hate it . it will allways be here.....

There's nothing illegal about writing stuff off. I write off everything that I'm elligible to write off on my taxes according to tax law. I don't know of anyone who says...Hey I only owe $4000 in taxes this year...but you know what, I'm gonna give the IRS an extra $1,000 this year. Think about it...

Glass-Steagall was pretty effective until it was repealed. I wouldn't mind seeing that put back in place.

Im more refering to individuals that have been self employed for 5-10-20 years and show a consitent loss in income an most of the times a negative take for the year yet have nice houses cars and obviously make money yet dont report any of it so they dont have to pay taxes on it.
