the biggest issue is the computer fuckery they've got going on in newer trucks.

mechanically, that build is possible. but newer vehicles have far too many sensors that drastically changing even the length or width of the vehicle can throw persistent error codes.

i'd prefer to go the other way. 2025 frame under a 1990 truck.

The new 4Runner and Tacoma are both bigger due to TNGA-F.

I don't mind turbos, but would prefer the simplicity of NA motor.

Not allowed, yet where I live in NW PA Side by sides are free to roam most township roads and state roads as long as they don't have a divided lane...

If and when Toyota finally decides to make a new compact pickup that a lot of people are asking for, it will be electric :annoyed:

We can the drive them just about anywhere that has a 45 mph and under speed limit. If you're not acting a fool, you can basically get away with driving them just about anywhere but the interstate.

Of course, given the fact that drive mechanism boils down to a rubber band and screaming RPM' s, they're not exactly practical as a daily driver.

American here, and yes my nation has become obese as fuck... Every time i have to fly, there are fatasses spilling into what is my space in my seat that i paid for. The airlines charge me more money if my bag is 1lb over the weight limit, but the airlines don't charge these people for being my height but three times as wide and stealing my space...:angrygirl:

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
I had an early 90'S short bed regular cab Mitsubishi Mighty Max 2.4L EFI 2WD 5spd that was probably as stripped as you could get. No radio, no AC, no PS but it was a great truck. Good on gas, peppy, and after I dropped it a couple of inches and put some 17's on it it was fun to drive. Commuted 100 miles a day in it for a couple of years before selling it to my buddy who used it to haul his MX bike and gear to the track every weekend. I'd get another one in a minute but that was 22 years ago, now I'd at least need AC.

Edit: I added AC to Shifty... It was more of a challenge then anything.

Built to climb. Gear reductions all around, electronic fuel pump, holly carb. It will climb any angle until the coefficient of friction between rubber and contact is exceeded. All with a 20R

I understand the Hilux with manual transmission is sold world wide but not in the US.

I would have bought a new Hilux in an instant if it was offered here, but it is not. My 2023 is porcine by comparison.

I have a 2008 tacoma trd sport dclb 4x4. I just moved to another state and don't need the long bed or towing capacity anymore. If Ford came out with a Maverick with a 2.0 or 2.5L NOT TURBO I would seriously consider it. Hell if toyota put the 2.7L non turbo in a mini truck I would buy that. Rent a uhaul trailer for when I need a real truck bed.

I don't buy that. I still see ton of the old style Rangers on the road. The problem was Ford had not made any major changes to that truck in years. It was getting long in the tooth, and low to mid 20's to buy, when a base F150 was in that same range. Easy for Ford to scrap the Ranger. The Ranger that came back, in my opinion is garbage. I would get a Maverick, which should be called a Ranger, any day over the new Ranger.

Which is utter garbage just like golf carts being allowed on the road. Neither that SXS or a golf cart could safely take a hit from a real car or truck in an accident. Golf carts don't even have seat belts in most cases.

How can the "money talk" if you cant purchase an actual compact truck? The whole point of blaming the EPA is the fact they made the compact pickup truck extinct

The same must be said for bicycles, mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, trikes, roadsters, a lot of classic automobiles, etc., etc.
Should we ban them all at once, or one at a time?

Bigger is better mentality is driven by the consumer. Toyota could build a smaller truck that gets good gas mileage and meets emission standards.
    But will the consumer bite....

    Exhibit A: Ford Maveric.
    Exhibit B: Hyundai Santa Cruz.
    Exhibit C: Honda Ridgeline.

    Coming soon?... the Toyota Stout.

There is a place in the market for this sized 'truck'....

I chuckled, but it's not wrong either. Or go to a concert, especially at a baseball stadium and see what happens. I was at Fenway this month for a show and some jerk behind me was so drunk and obese he spilled half a beer down my back trying to get into his chair.

Gents, just find a 80s toyota pickup and you’re set. The 22r or 22re are awesome little motors, they push these little trucks around like golf carts with a bed. Insurance is cheap too. Parts galore via 22re performance/LCEngineering for go fast goodies(or not too fast:rofl:), and forums with thousands of pages of support. Best “compact truck” at the sub $5k price point. If one does much reading on this forum, you will find so many post's wanting more room in the Tacoma. Want more power, towing, room... buy something that best fits your needs.
