From my last post Ive fully decided on going for drift truck as there is a track close to me and Ive got a few friends who go quite often. I hit a deer back in october so now im rebuilding the front end. Well since the truck is pretty low miles I figured its a waste in getting rid of it when its still healthy and reliable, just cosmetically banged up.

Anyways off topic. I drove one of my friends cars on the track and I was getting the hang of his car but when we switched to my truck I was barely able to get loose let alone stay loose on 175/45/r17's with a welded diff (Embarassing!). We narrowed it down to a power issue as his car weighs more but makes 350whp on the same wheel setup while im still stock.

Whats some ideas on how to boost the power of the 2rz without breaking open the motor or going with forced induction/ Nitrous? Maybe changing my fuel system and running a race gas? Let me know!Screenshot_20230427_183853_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20230125-112916_Gallery.jpg

Short of forced induction (which by the way the 2RZ takes boost like a champ, buddy just made 330hp and 315lb of torque to the tires with a small turbo on his) you could try raising the redline and getting a stronger clutch so you can clutch kick. Take weight off the rear and get a limited slip differential or weld the spider gears so you spin both.

I'm going to throw in my 2 cents and say without forced induction or a full on LS swap, you aren't gonna get much HP gains.

Not much else to do then, learning to get the wheels spinning is an art early on, a strong clutch and learning to manage first gear is gonna be his bread and butter without some boost.

Ive already welded the diff, I was told the same thing a couple of days before I went, as for weight ive cut out most of the bed, We took off the tail gate and rear bumper hoping it would help too but it doesnt seem to help a whole lot.

I'm not an expert, but I agree with others. You could dump a ton of money into various mods for minor incremental gains and be frustrated. Forced induction is probably where you want to be for what you want to do.

A getto idea but you could get some water misters to spray the rear tires. Could help iniate a drift as long as you have the power to keep it going. Another idea is to get rid of the clutch fan for an e fan.

If you just want to make smoke and go side ways, go to a mom n pops tire shop and get the cheapest used off brand tire you can get. Cheap tires suck at gripping so you should be able to spin those. Also like I said if smoke and side ways is all you want, you can also get the smallest tires you can get also.

I have seen drifters actually cut/shorten/re-weld the front spindle ears that hold tie rods!
You can almost make front wheels point at 90degree angle from veh’s body when performing on track. No doubt these vehicles were trailered to track
