I understand the appeal of the larger screens in vehicles but I don't want them. Most of these screens seem laggy and I think they will age poorly. I put the extra large infotaintment screens in the same category as fridges with touchscreens and washer/dryers with bluetooth-- kind of cool but I don't want to pay for it specifically. I think it's great that this generation gives buyers all these options.

lol…I remember when 6” screen was huge. I have the 8” screen and never think twice. My brother has a Tundra with the 14” screen, it’s nice but I don’t pay attention to it. It’s not like I am watching movies while driving!!!

The 14 inch screen isn’t glued on or added in an awkward place. These infotainment screens have been placed in this way as far back as 2015 as shown in my 2015 BMW X5. Current models are much larger to accommodate more information. If you don’t like technology or are scared of them then perhaps a new car is not for you and should browse in the Craigslist for older trucks or cars.

Embrace the technology or get left behind.

I've been fine w/ the 8" screen (don't miss not having 14" at all). The only scenario that would make the larger screen something I'd want if getting the OR trim would be if truck had the 360 camera system, but to get that you'd need to pay for the full premium pkg. which would include the big screen anyway. If I had all those camera views the additional screen space would be fantastic, but that's about the only reason for me. Also, as mentioned already the RAV4 knob can easily replace the stock one if you prefer, but I adjust volume on the steering wheel controls so that little knob isn't really an prob for me either. Just my 2¢. Good luck w/ whichever way you decide to go.

Your presumption that a preference for a smaller screen is somehow akin to being a luddite relies upon assumptions that are wholly untrue. Using your argument, everyone should order every single possible technological upgrade possible on any new vehicle or they're just not keeping up with the times. Silly. It's a preference. Accept that not everyone shares yours.

I was very sceptical of the large screen prior to buying the truck. After the test drive and now owning it since Feb 1 it doesn't bother me at all. Glad it was part of the Sport upgrade package.

Man, wasn’t sure about the 14” screen initially as it took a little getting used to. But, not having to squint to see Waze and have things easily readable is really, really nice. After a week or so, I’ve never looked back.

As said before, it’s really not intrusive and doesn’t stick up above the bottom of the windshield. I’m a fan.

8" is fine for me, I prefer it. Don't need a 14" TV on my dash to drive around town or go 4 wheeling. Not a huge fan of the stupidly thick frame around it but after my first yr driving it, don't even notice anymore

The best one is the one you have! Both have pros and cons. I was looking for a pretty specific build. SDM and upgrade package, not premium, with minimal to no port added BS. Preferably with the smaller 8 in screen, but I would have still bought it if it had the big screen. SDM at the time was hard to find and usually came loaded with all options and a bunch of port BS. Inventory is pretty good now so be picky and get what you want.

I like the 14'' screen a lot more than the 8'' in my Tacoma. But in Canada, to get the larger screen, you have to purchase the Premium Package which is $10,000 plus sales tax, plus luxury tax so I opted out. If I could have optioned for just the larger screen I definitely would have.

    8" screen looks cheap, IMO.

After 9,000 miles with the big screen, I can't even imagine having the 8" screen. Off road, I usually have the ON-X map on. On the highway, I've got Google Maps on one side and an audiobook on the other.

I got a chuckle from someone with a second-gen Taco claiming the larger screens were laggy.

8” and 14” screen debate is like 3rd gen Tacoma vs 4th gen Tacoma debate all over again.
    Go big or go home.

Maybe the case with current ordering, but my 2024 OR had the 14" screen added as a single line item (Optional Equipment code EE - Audio Multimedia Upgrade - includes 14-in Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen - $845.00)

I have the standard radio, not JBL.

I came from the 2009, my wife’s 2021 rav has the small one, I also thought I’d regret not getting the larger one, so I got it. But there’s so much more that’s badass about the truck than the screen being small or big. I wouldn’t trip too much about it

I elected to get the big screen. If all goes to plan, I’ll pick up the truck tomorrow.

Prediction: the 2030 Tacoma will come with a 55" TV perched on the dash.

With a 75" screen as an option, naturally.
