Doug, you did good... You will note that your photos are a bit bigger and stretch the screen a bit, and if you click on 'more options' before you upload to photobucket, you can pick a slightly smaller size next time... Mine are at 'Large'...

    Resize my images to:

    Basic dimensions Tiny ( 100 x 75 ) Small ( 160 x 120 ) Medium ( 320 x 240 ) Large ( 640 x 480 ) 15" screen ( 800 x 600 ) 17" screen ( 1024 x 768 ) 1 megabyte file size

Happy to help a fellow old timer!

Hey, so the Mrs. and I went off roading yesterday, as Tri couldn't get a run together... I did wear my SoCal Tacomas tee shirt, however!

We drove out past Lake Henshaw towards Borrego... and just before Ranchita, turned off the highway (S-22) onto Grapevine Canyon Road (small sign).

It is an 11.6 mile dirt run down to Hwy. 78, just east of Scissors Crossing... It is mostly smooth road, but there is one rocky pitch that let me use LOW RANGE, and the A-TRAC even came on once... We did a short hike at Angelina Spring, but didn't see any water.

After we reached Hwy. 78, we saw dust behind us... and it was a three vehicle group of four wheelers coming down the road.

    Just took this one photo...

    TacomaDiffBreatherMod_2596b1f4c0b5b01a6d67a5adb9b9beaa8d1ab763.jpg

Anyway, it was about as tough looking a road as most of the runs I see posted on TW. 4WD was not manditory, but did make the one spot easy to drive over.

    Have a good week...

Culp Valley is past (east of) Ranchita, and Grapevine Canyon Road starts before (west of) Ranchita... There is a dirt road that goes from Grapevine Canyon Rd. to Old Culp Valley Rd.... This is south of Ranchita.

Let me know if you want me to post a map!
